Hence we should pull out all the stops to keep them as no one seems to have any great suggestions who we can replace them with....

 

Thank goodness our owners have a great perspective on the value of our top top players .......better than the minority of fans who would just let RM and DD go for ridiculously low fees without a scooby doo how to replace them .....stand firm Top and IF we have to lose anyone make sure we have got real value!!

I have no doubt there will be a replacement lined up and signed no matter the price if mahrez goes, but with DD we already have a lot of competition for CM. we'd probably cash it in. Hopefully get a class CB instead

We have a lot of bodies in midfield for replscents but they aren't quality! Look at what happened with injuries last season we got spanked, King isn't that great, Amartey isn't a CM really, Iborra who knows he's already injured and didn't play much for Sevilla last year, Ndidi still has a lot to learn but is definitely a starter and has potential so we need more not less CM's and ship some out!

Yep I agree, I just don't think we'll see it as a priority myself but we'll have to see

Leicester City want £40million from Chelsea for Danny Drinkwater.

The 27-year-old signed an improved deal last summer and has four years left on his contract but is keen to join the Premier League champions.

Chelsea, who have had one bid rejected, are set to offer £25m plus add-ons. 


 

That will be rejected but an offer closer to £30m plus add-ons could trigger a breakthrough. 

 

Manager Antonio Conte wants to bolster his options following the sale of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United and has drawn up a list of targets.

The 27-year old Drinkwater, who would also boost Chelsea's homegrown contingent, signed a four-year contract at Leicester and is key to Craig Shakespeare's plans. 

Though he would be interested in a move to Chelsea he is conscious he could end up with a peripheral role as Conte aims to pair Tiemoue Bakayoko with N'Golo Kante as his midfield engine room of choice.

Don’t be bullied. Tell them to do one.

 

I’d rather retain the quality and push not have to replace DD.

Got a feeling this will go through now ... if we can buy a quality replacement , keep Mahrez and add another centre back.... It will be an ok window.

If we lose Drinkwater and Mahrez and bring no one else in ... it will be an even more incompetent window than last year and we need to

question where this club is going.

The longer it goes on you talk like its Leicesters fault.

 

Chelsea need to make an acceptable offer first. But we know they want him so nothing to stop us looking and sounding out deals.

We will miss Drinkwater if he goes but Chelsea are taking liberties with derisory offers as are Roma with Mahrez, Iborra & Ndidi will do a great job as will a fully fit James, Barclay would have been a good option but he's out for 3 months. Think Drinkwater has had his head turned so we hopefully have options in the pipeline.... :thumbup:

True. As did Sven allegedly. 32m for Kante is unbelievable value with values now. Imagine losing him for 20m then again our transfer business up until last summer was 1st class. This summer jury is still out. It could still end up being a very good window or an absolute disaster that could jeopardize our prem status. The window needs to shut before a ball is kicked in the league. Over midway through August and 2 weeks could be the difference between fighting for europe or fighting relegation.

 

Then again we are Leicester that's just how we roll :) for as long as I can remember. Always a rollercoaster

I wouldn't begrudge Drinkwater the move- he's been nothing short of a model pro since we signed him, and he'd leave with the respect of every Leicester fan.

 

As long as we replace him properly, I think we could manage- the money we may receive would cover whatever we need to get Adrian Silva, and I think he'd be more than adequate.

 

It would be another piece chipped off the title winning squad, but if he wants to go and the money is enough to find a great replacement/strengthen multiple positions, we can't base our decision on sentiment.

This is starting to look more likely than Mahrez leaving. Really hope we have someone very decent lined up. Strange/worrying that there's no links to anyone recent that would be a decent replacement. There's almost always a leak. Hope that any add ons are not appearance based.
