Loads of foreign based players would want to join us.

Adrien Silva for example is on £17k a week at Sporting and I see he hasn't got his move yet this window. He'd jump at the chance of coming here over staying at Sporting.

And then you have the risk of them not hitting the ground running (or at all). So many players come to England and struggle with the pace and physicality of the league. Take Mkhitarian for example, Bundesliga player of the year and only now starting to look effective in the PL.

DD is a proven premier league player - that shouldn't be understated.

However, if we are talking about an offer of £40m I think it would be hard to turn down.

His last contract he was on $2.43m per year, which equates to c£36k/wk. The new contract he signed in the summer is probably more than that.

Well one of us is wrongly informed (probably me).

I remember reading last year when we were linked he was on £17k a week and had only signed his new contract 6 months before. I thought he was foolish as here is a player supposedly worth £30m or so on relative buttons and locked in that contract until his early 30's.

Last year maybe, I doubt it this time. Plus we were being quoted bare millions last summer and everyone's more expensive this time.

I don't think it's that easy to replace him, plus the season has already started and you'd be lumping a guy in at the deep end.

There are bits of the title winning side we need to upgrade coughdefencecough but I don't think DD is one of them. And I don't think we particularly need the money, we can strengthen the side without selling anyone.

I actually quite like that we are now able to turn our backs to offers from the so called "big teams". This allows us to maintain a level of strength on which to build upon rather than being hammered back to zero after letting our best players go. Keep it up please - it´ll pay off for us in relation to results.

I don't think either have been "priced out".

If you want to come and buy our better players who we aren't actively trying to sell then you have to pay a premium. They don't dictate the price, we do.

Exactly this.

With the amount of money in the league now the 'bigger' clubs can't just rock up and offer pittance to steal other clubs best players. The 'Smaller' clubs have a lot more power to say no or charge a premium these days.

The club isn't desperate for cash or desperate to sell so if you want a star player you have to pay over the odds.

They do also need to want to come to lcfc  ......

We've signed the likes Iborra, iheanacho and maguire. I don't think it's really an issue for us to attract decent players anymore

Loftus-Cheek looked pretty good for Palace on Saturday even amongst their total shitshow. So weird that Chelsea sent him out

I really don't think we should sell DD. We'd just leave ourselves with the same problem of depth we had last year when we had to play King and Amartey for a load of games, and we really don't know if Matty James is genuinely still good enough yet. Plus DD can actually pass which elevates him above 90% of our squad

Think I saw a stat last season saying that he was first place for total misplaced passes.

whilst he can find a decent ball from time to time, the amount of time he threw possession away last season was infuriating

reckon we should take 30-35 million for him

After watching James and N'Didi on Friday get turned and beaten so many times whilst struggling to hold onto the ball I don't think we should should be selling this guy anytime soon.

We shouldn't be selling our engine, yes he was bad at times last year but at his best he's top class, a title winner and he's fairly young possibly with his best years ahead of him, I'm also concerned about the knock on, if Vardy sees Mahrez and Drinkwater go and interest comes for him in January after a good few months, why would he want to stay?

Knock back the bid.

Iborra was on his way to Sunderland in the last window for half what we payed for him.

We were nachos only option as no one else would touch a buy back clause.

Maguire is the one we did well to sign.

Yes, but no-one is going to pay 40 million for DD and 50 million for Mahrez.

If that's what our club wants, they'll be pleased.

I don't think we should be judging those two against Arsenal. They've made complete mugs of Kante and Drinkwater before lets not forget.

Still don't want the fella sold. Too late in the window for my liking as well, we could end up panic buying and just wasting money.

We've already signed the captains of Hull and Seville... how many more do you want? :D

They we shouldn't sell and let the window close.  To get the chance again dd would have to keep working for his place here

I'm sorry but we did very well to get Iheanacho, many clubs would have touched him except maybe rivals to Man City whom wouldn't want to risk being compromised and weakened automatically if Man City decided to bring him back for any reason. A buyback clause isn't the only clauses players have in their contracts, a big sell on clause can diminish the profit a club receives as well as minimum release clauses which are very popular. I am amazed we got him, he would have gone abroad to a much bigger club had he not been desperate to gain his UK Passport which he's eligible for in 2 years.

A team full of captains! I'd prefer a prospective captain who can command CM and those around him

Drinkwater isn't world class or irreplaceable. He's an excellent player but if we got £35m-£40m for him I think we can assume with a good degree of certainty that he'll never be worth any more that that.

I'm all for selling our players when there value is at a peak price especially when they're replaceable. For us to refuse £35m-£40m is a terrible indictment on our scouting team that they don't have the imagination or ability to make us better long term with that money.

Sorry mate I totally disagree with this ...   he is the heartbeat, the main spring of our team and for that reason alone is worth more to us than ANYTHING that Chelski can offer.     I'm not for selling ANYONE that is at their selling peak and can see no one in particular that can fill the hole ...   let alone someone that we can afford or even wants to come here ! ....

'For us to refuse the offer' ?  ...     telling DD he aint going anywhere shows that we mean business and have our sights set high.
