Sadly he's probably more likely to be in the England squad as a second choice Chelsea player than a first choice Leicester one! He should have been at the Euro 2016, if anyone sane had been appointed. Woy is the worst thing that could happen to you. Kane taking corners/free kicks and Vardy playing on the wing, just fvcking lol. I don't think Southgate will make the same mistake.
sacreblueits442 Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 I know I will probably get pasted for this, so tin hat at the ready………… I watched Danny Drinkwater playing for Barnsley against Leicester some years ago and I turned to my brother and said “that’s who City wants… he’s running this game”. Everything for Barnsley went through him, getting the ball off the back four and supplying the killer ball at the edge of City’s box to his forwards. We were schooled that day, by one man. We bought him not long after and it was one of Leicester City best decision. Great partnership with Matty James in the Championship to win promotion……….. Pearson brings in Cambiasso and puts Danny on the bench (perhaps as a way of showing Danny how to run a team). Next season with Cambiasso gone and Kante added he’s back to his best we win the league. Danny does not want to go to Chelsea but feels he needs to!! He will not get the chance to play for Man. Untd and follow his idol Paul Scholes in the middle at “The Theatre of Dreams”. To go to Chelsea will be a significant achievement of which there are only certain clubs who can give him that kudos in regards to his career . Last season he was our best player at the start of the season and continued to play despite carrying an injury that affected his game. Due to our poor recruitment last season he continued play as we had no one good enough in that position and the late addition of N’didi helped but he then had to babysit an inexperienced young player. This summer’s recruitment brought in Iborra and once again a slap in the face to Drinkwater, it is clear he is not valued by Leicester and instead of building the team around him we choose to alienate him . Danny Drinkwater is the heart of Leicester, Vardy sets the tempo, Danny pulls the strings. This transfer can be halted but Shakey needs to sit down with Danny, I don’t think it is about money.

Allardyce tried to call N'Zonzi up for England as he'd spent 5 years here without playing for France's first team but got stopped because he'd played for their U21s. Maybe he'll count?

STUHILL Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 N'Zonzi would be a great replacement if Danny did move to Chelsea. I imagine, that he will only be allowed to leave, if we have a player like N'Zonzi ready to come in
Harry S Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 I imagine nzonzi would go to a club that can offer CL
Harry S Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 In the arsenal game you could see that we needed him matty james still isn't at full fitness but that sort of player makes a difference -matty james off 82 min ramsy goal 83 giroud 85

I don't think he's Chelsea's first choice but he's an option for them. I hope our DoF has someone up his sleeve to replace him adequately if he goes.
Harry S Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Wage wise they won't pay him anymore than we could offer him but if he goes hes passing up 1st team for bench warmer
BoyJones Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Reading this thread justs tells me the majority of city fans know sod all about football. Drinky is immence for city, he may SEEM to make mistakes a la West Brom, but all his nitty gritty unsong work, being in the right position to make the opposition change their pass option etc goes unnoticed. We have some sad fans. i have stopped posting on here because of the vitriolic comments flying around from the so called know all fans, who in reality know nothImg. Some "fans" need to get a grip. After 56 years supporting Leicester, the last four years or so have been brilliant. In some ways if we did a "Cov" I wouldn't mind, because all the new so called "fans" would clear off. Leave Drinky alone, I wouldn't blame him if he went with our current set of pretend fans.

A straight swap for Okazaki would have been better.

Babylon Posted 16 August 2017 Posted 16 August 2017 If they bid £25m it should be laughed off, that's simply not enough to make a team that doesn't want to sell, sell. A replacement would cost as much if not more. Got to be £32-£35m to make us think about it surely.

TheLittleBigMan Posted 16 August 2017 Posted 16 August 2017 James kept him out of the team til he got injured. And he's bald, so no head and shoulders cash. I'll go 25 mil plus add on's. Up the city.

Why do you think it's a slap in the face that Iborra was signed? Danny is injured and can't play himself at the mo. James is not 100% fit. King is only ok as cover. Clearly we need sufficient midfielders to provide cover and options to last through a season.

He was brillant until nov. 2016. After that it went downhill, for whatever reason, and pulling the strings wasn't his thing anymore. He played injured (or not) last season because there was no adequate replacement (or concurrence). Leicester value him greatly, played him even out of form and wouldn't let him go. Apparently his head was turned on and he wants to warm the bench play for Chelsea. We'll see soon enough if his current injury was real or just a diplomatic one. Iborra's not a slap in the face, it's called concurrence. When you're a competitor you step up to the challenge, you don't go away. And I doubt that Iborra would take his place if he stayed and upped his performances.
