Andy King - 10 years since debut

Recommended Posts

Has some critics from a footballing perspective, which gets a bit personal from what I've seen on social media, but this guy has been on the journey with us.

Well done Andy - one of my favourite players at the club.

Deserves a bit more respect from some but I know he's liked as a person by most.

“I’ve no issues with players who decide to go elsewhere, but I’ve never had the urge to leave. I’ve never come close. I can see myself finishing my career here.”

“I’ve had 10 managers, including caretakers, who have all wanted their own signings and their own systems. I’m still here, though, and that gives me immense satisfaction. I feel so proud to have played such a big part in this journey.”

King is like a vintage wine in reverse ... gets worse as he gets older.

I'm sure Doris the 80 year old tea lady ( minimum wage person, lived in the same house on the Stocking Farm Estate for her entire life and never been further than Mablethorpe )

....... is more mobile than him.

Anyone remember his first goal for the club? Southampton away in a 2-1 defeat. 35-yard screamer.

Yes it was freezing and I felt very hard done to by their winner, a dodgy penalty. It was at home though.

Forget his ability for a moment and just appreciate how obviously proud the guy is to wear our shirt.

If we're talking footballing ability, how about our management play him in a three or at least further up the pitch? He's obviously never going to thrive in a holding role in a midfield two.

The guy is the definition of a Leicester City legend.

King is part of the club's DNA. I understand from interviews with the players and staff alike that he's a well-liked person and has an important role in the squad mainly off the field.

No, he's not the most gifted player, but how big a role hasn't he played in helping the club from League One to the PL?

I'm happy he's still part of the squad and reading this interview, he comes across as a decent guy who I'd love to have around my workplace too.

I don't think he compares unfavourably to other legendary players of this club.

She's probably got a few better one liners than yourself as well!

Absolute hero. Unfair stick tbf, he's not world class, but I don't doubt he'd be perfectly adequate at this level in a three (between playing Oakley as essentially a third CM, and the actual 3 under Sven, his development and when he looked like genuine potential all came in a midfield 3)

When Drinky left us for Chelsea saying he was a Leicester fan I thought that was bollux.

If Kingy did and said the same I'd believe him

Most underappreciated player at the club. No, he shouldn't be starting every game, but given an injury crisis, I'm more than happy that he's around to put in a decent, if not spectacular, shift. More importantly, he's quite happy too to be the bit part player who can fill in adequately; no whinging on social media, crying to his agent, demands for first team football, he just gets on with it whenever he's needed. He could be a regular starter for some Premier League teams.

Take a bow, Andy. Some of us love you. :appl:

Apologies for my comments ... just a bit frustrated with our midfield situation and King. Do you remember the Andy King that used to ghost

in to the box and score those vital goals ? .. seems a distant memory the mobile Andy King ... probably not King's fault but the managers that play him

in a certain role.
