Reasons to keep Shakespeare

Oddly I see few reasons Members are posting here for keeping him.

Well my reason for keeping him would be:

1) I don't believe we will be relegated under Shakey (our underperforming team is not yet relation fodder).

2) We will give the impression to next potential manager (yes, I believe Shakey should be removed at year end) that we do not give managers a proper chance (which is why sacking Ranieri was a mistake...[see above] ).

You seem to be playing devil's advocate here, but regardless, I'd counter those points with:

1) That's not really relevant. It's whether we are going backwards. I'd say we quite evidently are.

2) By keeping him we might give the impression we're a club with no ambition. And we won't be able to be a club with ambition if we are deep in a relegation dogfight.

There is still time this early in the season to say 'we're an attractive club who has just had a bad time under a poor manager'.

The longer it goes on, the more we look like a club on the slide which is going nowhere good.

this is true.... and we must all face it.  Sad but.... WE need to make the change and  find someone who can take us forward

I think those are good points.  I'll admit I'm uncertain about our best path.

A loss on Monday and I think the clock will be ticking for Shakey. This is a crucial match.

The Silva fiasco is not his fault and I feel a bit sorry for him.

Arguably we now have the worst midfield options in the whole of the division.

I think its pretty scandalous how the club have acted ... Kapuksta, Mendy and Lawrence have all been allowed to go.

To just be relying on Iborra , King , a young kid and a player who we know is injury prone is crazy.

This doesn't sound good. I know that LCFC has become legendary for creating an environment of empowerment from the players, but there is a reason why players play and coaches coach.

Agree with all of this.

I think our midfield is next to the worst in the division and (a point I made before but was shouted down by the usual suspects), it's gone backwards a few years imo.

Leaving Kante aside, we've lost Drinkwater, Cambiasso, King has gone downhill, James was better before his horrendous injury (imo)

Now we have Wilf, who is clearly suffering from being a 20 year old kid chucked in too much, too quick. Iborra, who looks off the pace to me and Amartey who, God knows what his best position is?

It's a mess. I think it's worse than it was even during the Championship winning campaign. A younger, fitter Drinkwater and James actually played very well together.

There are many negatives in there.

The one that concerns me most is that he’s encouraging the lads to press higher up the pitch.

On its own that sounds like a positive, however he’s been asking them to do that for ****ing weeks and clearly they are listening ?!!!

The main issue I have with Shakespeare especially away from home is that he is more concerned about not losing rather than being positive and going for a win. Dont get me wrong obviously going places like arsenal and man utd you'd take a point but when he comes out with being happy with a point at huddersfield and bournemouth you find it frustating to hear. I couldn't believe it when he said after the huddersfield game that at half time he would of been happy with a point. Even at home to Chelsea at half time 1 nil down his solution bring king on and leave vardy up front on his own. You can make the excuse of a tough start but we've won 1 out 7 and in that have played brighton, huddersfield and bournemouth. I can hear him now after wba game saying that hes happy with a point.

The only time we've pressed is when the players were stung with critisism, we've seen a drop off since then again. I'm worried it's down to attitude and application.

I'm finally starting to think that.

That gives me absolutely no confidence in him. If we got someone else in they would change the formation without "chatting with the lads" - because our lot will insist he keeps 442, just like with Ranieri. Seems to me like the players suddenly do not have a clue how to play 442, or they are just not doing what Shakespeare or Appleton says. Either way, we're fvcked.

I honestly cannot get my head around why they'd even want to play 4-4-2. Who is it bringing the best out of exactly? Other than the opposition.

It leaves us light in midfield, isolated up front, still not particularly organised at the back, and our style does absolutely nothing for creative players like Mahrez.

I just can't see who it's meant to be benefiting. If the players want 4-4-2 then they're off their heads.

In essence this is it for me too. Nothing wrong with 442 .....if you've got the right players to play it and we currently haven't!  Wake up Shakespeare you dumb clut or preferably just fall on your sword!

We're neither providing opportunities to some potentially lethal proven strikers in Vardy,  Slimani, Iheanacho or even Marhez and neither are we providing chances to an overworked made to look foolish at times defence, all of whom are also competent. When fit we've also got some very decent midfielders as well believe it or not  ........ just not in an overun 2, many keep pointing this out but this blubbery clown, who looks more like an unfit kebab eating tramp in an inappropriate tracksuit from a New Walk park bench seems to be absolutely  blind to it.

And relax, I feel better for that and it's only ten to seven!

With respect, few seem to be addressing my original point which is that a deeper malaise is affecting the club and Shakespeare is not the direct cause of that.

I may be wrong, but my instinct is that he is ideally placed to understand the cause of this because he's been around a while. Results may make this impossible of course, but I don't really think our fundamental problem is as simple as a few tactical changes and while a change of manager may give us a short term boost, the same pattern would probably emerge within time.

We are trying to become a bigger club than we used to be, and it's hard to do that straight away, but I think the owners are aware of this and in the end they will achieve it.

Just interviewed on Soccer am....

Shakey was asked what profession he'd like to be in if he wasn't a Football Manager...

Answer :.................................?

Any guesses?
