Someone with a record of a rebuild who can impose their own style on a team. Ideally. and I want a Ferrari and an 8 bed mansion. We're a mid-to-low end Premier League team. If we get Koeman or Pellegrini we'll be punching.

That's a fair point. I'd like to think that the next manager will be given the opportunity to do a Pearson-style 2/3 year rebuild while maintaining Premier League football. We'd have to wait and see.
Mullet1 Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 This is amazing 2 wealthy premier league teams with no manager play live on sky on Sunday. The build up gonna be immense!! I see Jamie Redknapp is saying he isn’t surprised yet slagged is off fir sacking Shakespeare. The guys a kn*b head and you just know that Everton are going to get our number 1 target whoever that may be
KingKoala Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 TBF to him, Ranieri was sacked by Greece before coming here to win us title

If I were Koeman I'd try and get a job in Spain & aim for 3rd/4th

Brainy Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 2015/16 - Leicester win the title out of nowhere 2017/18 - Leicester sack their manager who had an impressive start the season before. Sacked after what was a poor start albeit with a difficult run of fixtures. The club is sat below expectations in the table. Reaction? Disgrace, joke, pathetic, typical clueless foriegn owners 2016/17 - Everton finish an easy 7th in the PL 2017/18 - Everton sack their manager after an impressive first season at the club. Sacked after what has been a poor start albeit with a difficult run of fixtures and a lot of money spent. The club is sat below expectations in the table? Reaction? Also using numbers from transfermarkt.com, we spent 83m on players this summer. Our success from two seasons ago + 83m spent this summer shows that our owners ambitions aren't to settle for 17th place every single season, like these so called top pundits believe we should be doing.

He's been utter crud this season, my opinion has always been hire someone with a track record of current success and not a recent failure. He's better bet than a lot of the shit names that get chucked about, but I just don't like hiring people with a stain on their record like the Everton one this season. This was followed by a foray into international management with the Greece national team, but he was sacked less than four months later due to a 1–0 defeat against the Faroe Islands in the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying. Ranieri returned to England once more in the summer of 2015 as manager of Leicester City.

Koeman has failed to gel a whole new team, the 7th place finish - European competition & the money spent since has made the relegation zone untenable for him Shakey has put best part of a decade into this club as it's most successful coach/asst manager ever... There's probably a case that Shakey was over-promoted, but that reflects more on his boss than him. Shakey deserved better from the club.
Karljohn Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 Koeman desperatly needed a replacement for Lukaku, that never arrived. Hi Mr Rudkin....im Ronald.

A Martin O’Neill type manager or a Pearson, the players need a strong management team who will demand more from them. We have had a let’s see what happens mentality for the last two seasons because we never expected to win the league or be in a relegation battle the year after. It’s tough to gauge where we are as a team because the the difference is so extreme. My personal choice would be Brendan Rodgers because given time we would play attractive attacking football.

Bertrand and Soares definitely get forward often, but last season Puel got them to stay back a bit more often admittedly. He's a damn sight more creative than James Ward Prowse
Farrington fox Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 Great, the Toffies will have a rebound just like us.

It's a bit like how people turn their nose up at signing players who are out of contract at the end of the season. "If they're not good enough for them........." I wouldn't be against us going for Koeman but I don't think he's what we need right now.

Both know how to defend but prefer to play on the front foot.
shen Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 Never liked or particularly rated Koeman as a manager. Don't think his style would work well at our club either.
Max Wall Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 If the answer to the question is Koeman, I think we're asking the wrong question. His transfer dealings this season are arguably worse than ours. I really don't want him.

We can't use a 5000/1 shot as evidence of what we should be doing. It's about attempting to minimise risk.
SuperMike Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 Any manager who regularly uses Tom Davies is questionable. A bit like the Peter Taylor / Junior Lewis thing?
indierich06 Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 Let's face it - Everton have had a shit season so far because they had a ridiculously hard start and they didn't replace Lukaku, which anyone could see was going to cause them problems. Koeman did a good job with Southampton, and he took Everton to 7th last year. Let's not write him off because of 9 games this season. He's absolutely lightyears ahead of some of the names I've seen - Allardyce, Pardew, Puel, Coleman. And if Everton are going to be in the market for the same managers we're going for, then this is one they definitely won't poach off us! We need to get someone in ASAP so they can start getting the team playing to their style, and so they've got enough time to assess what we need when it comes to the January window, I don't want us to be mucking around and competing with Everton for someone like Pellegrini only to end up disappointed and having to make a panic appointment. At the end of last season, I think a lot of us would have snapped your hand off if we'd been offered Koeman. I'd happily take him now.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 Don't want Koeman. If he can't make the opportunity he had at Everton work, id avoid him for the meantime. Rumour has it that most of the new signings were Koeman choices.
dannythefox Posted 23 October 2017 Posted 23 October 2017 No thanks. Can't believe people are taking about it do we want another shit window? look at some of the crap he's bought we don't need another manager like that!
