Iborra - Key Player?

How did they pluck out these diamond in the rough players???  How did they know he was going to be as good as he is?  Our scouts must pure geniuses?!

 

oh - wasn’t  he was an outstanding player for for a top 4 Spanish club for years???!!!

Didn't prevent some FT geniuses to utterly dismiss him after 2 games (coming back from an injury at that).

I think it's fair to say people didn't dismiss him but pointed out he wasn't yet up to speed and able to prove his worth in our team and they way we played.

 

This always begs the question can we afford the potential short term problems of playing him in favour of the hopefully longer term gains. We had the same issue with Inler only with him it wasn't necessary to risk him because we had Kante whereas with Iborra there weren't any viable alternatives. Fortunately he's adapted very quickly and with out to much pain again unlike Inler.

 

But I'm also fairly sure that we bought him with a view to us changing the way we play long before we got Puel in. Part of the Maguire, Iborra, Silva pact but due to the almighty cock up with Silva that couldn't happen so he had to adapt to our then style of play.

What i do know is that in the pl you get little space or time  so a good first touch is  essential

Been waiting for a midfield like him since the title winning team, can win the ball back and play a cutting and decisive pass.

To be fair to all the stick I’m getting! My point was why did no other scouts se his premier league potential. So shush lol

He was due to sign for Sunderland the year before but Seville pulled out of the deal, West Brom were also after him at one point.

Kante was played LM ffs. At Bury as soon as he was moved into the middle when Inler was knackered everyone knew then he was something special.

He came through originally as a striker but was seen as a too slow albeit with a good touch so they converted him to an attacking midfielder and then later became a central midfielder.

I love how much he actually cares about the other players, he stands their corner, fiercely when they are fouled/hurt, always checking to see if everyone is ok, encouraging people and generally just a brilliant addition.

Can’t wait for him to link up with Silva Iborra has shown some real class and a calming effect on the squad, I recon we'll have a top quality midfield when they are fully up and running and Silva gets up to full game fitness but also a bit of a headache for Puell !

My only worry is what sort of System Puel will play when we have Midfielders  like Iborra Silva Ndidi Mahrez Albrighton and Gray, who’s going to be his midfield base or is this a bit of a heads up because we'll be losing Mahrez but still need to show who will be our best midfield can’t see him benching Ndidi ?
