Callabinho Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 I thought Burnley were relatively tidy in the first half but their game plan was obvious. Hit the wide men and either win a corner or cross it in... Brady occasionally tried to find a way into the penalty area... but to no real avail. Their “passing” football that some of the pundits have been creaming over was all in ineffective areas of the pitch, we could have done that if we wanted. We deserved the win, and probably should have won by more. They will inevitably slip down the table once they come up against better opposition as they did yesterday.

They have drawn at Spurs and lpool and won at Chelsea - their only defeat on the road was at Man City. Whatever they have been doing has been effective thus far! They have yet to play yanited. Their play first half was very effective - puel made a couple of tactical changes at half time which put us more on the front foot and they then had to chase the game more which negated their numerical advantage in the middle. they lack some quality up front and squad depth. we should show a little more humility.

Livid Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 First half, goal apart, they edged it. Second half much much better from us, I was never totally relaxed as we never got the second we deserved.

Dyche’s effort to find an equaliser was to put two 6ft 3 lads on. As he did so it he told his players, ‘head’ gesturing at his head. Another day with such a backbone less ref, they could have had six yellows He bemoans about ‘british coaching’ but if there’s your Plan B then, that’s why you aren’t been chasing for other jobs. Spot on

True enough but you can't make a silk purse etc etc ...... what he has has done with what he has is impressive and his plan A is not that unattractive to watch. The centre back pairing has been well coached - a second rate full back discarded by plenty of sides (inc us) and a championship quality player who is now doing well at this level.

Their player picked the ball up and chucked it over our players head and it bounced off behind him. Dyche throws his hands up about us taking so long on the throw in.... yet the delay was entirely his own players fault for being a dick. There was a moment in the game where a Burnley player booted the ball out for a throw in for us and Dyche contested that throw in with a straight face. Weird bloke he is.

It was literally impossible for it to be anything other than a Leicester ball and he threw his arms all over the place screaming at the ref before storming round to the fourth official. All he wanted to do was play for set peices. Unfortunately for him his mardy attitude didn't work. Ashley Barnes is also the ultimate scumbag. I can't stress that enough. If he can play professional football in the premier league so can anyone on this forum.

I honestly can't remember them playing anything that could be described as football - they got the ball then immediately chucked it into maguire for us to have back. They passed it around far better than us in the first half

Can't fault the guy to be honest ... even if I don't understand half the things he's saying ... 17 hours ago, sm1 said: That would be the most hilarious conversation, neither Shinji or Puel will be able to understand a word each others saying. I think something got lost in the translation with that conversation. Shinji was told that he'd be expected to be involved in rotation hense that moment where he sat on the ground and span round in circles crab-football style!
foxy boxing Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 Really good win.Burnley played well in the first half but it was really good seeing Gray prepared to get hurt to get a goal and Mahrez had a really good game. While the defence stood firm to get a deserved clean sheet.
katieakita Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 If Dyche needs the siege mentality to create what Burnley are doing so be it and whatever he gets slated for Burnley are punching well above their weight. He has done well with what he has and has also been given the rare commodity of time something very few managers get. It is not our problem neither is their style of play but it does work for them so good luck to them. You keep crying Wolf and you get found out and remember Arsenal have not lost a game fairly and squarely in Wenger's 20 yrs. So many more positives than negatives yesterday from us and it will take time
Blue ROI Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 Fortunate to be a goal up at the break yet could have easily won 3 or 4-0 such was the second half dominance. Was a very mediocre first half after the perfect start. They had chances but Brady going off blunted them. Some great football after the break and we were very unlucky not to have scored more than 1. Gray's chance that hit the post the best chance we had followed by vardy/Morgan's mix up. Kasper again was wobbly on the kickout and dealing with crosses seems to cause panic throughout the king power. For all that he's still an excellent shot stopper. Maguire had a great game. Passing was top notch and won his duel easy. Iborra was a bit quieter after break. Not bad by any means but just a bit below the excellence of the last 5-6 games. Was impressed with ndidi. His tackling and chasing is impressive but his attacking abilities aren't all there yet. Looks like a racehorse on the ball! Mahrez has had a great month or so. I'm not a fan of how he handled the request in the summer or how it's rearing its head once more but you can't deny he was close to his best again. Albrighton had another big game. He's nowhere near our best technically gifted player but there's something about his work rate and industry that lifts the crowd more so than some other players. Most of the others about 6+ out of 10. Claude has had a great start. We look a lot more like footballers now than we ever did. There's that ludicrous belief out there that we've a a sense of entitlement but in spite of our frantic last 3 seasons there's s a great degree of satisfaction about the last week. This was what we were striving for 4/5 years ago and it's great we've ve fulfilled that goal. Burnley faded after a reasonable first 30 minutes. Not that great in talent but they are very well organized. For a small club they've done very well. Would be a favourite with neutrals more only for dyche I suspect. Given how well they've started reminded me of us 2 years ago and how lucky we were that the stars aligned. Well done to the lads and Claude.

Dorchester Fox Posted 3 December 2017 Posted 3 December 2017 It was a good performance yesterday - stood firm under pressure in the first half and dominated the second. Anyone know the extent of Brady’s injury? Some of the lovely fans sat by us were really keen that the ref didn’t bottle it by still giving Brady a card - and then loudly booed Brady off the pitch. Why? You could tell it was a serious injury & I thought that was a tad uncharitable. Most though realised he was hurt and clapped him off..

Haven't seen the replay, but it looked like he had gone in studs up, late and high on Maguire. No need to boo him off, but it certainly warranted a card.

Minimum of the ball. When the ref had a perfect veiw. Most definitely yes.

I thought Brady went in with intent but then came off worse, although there has been no real comment on it either in the papers or on the TV.
