It's hard to defend his record at Everton. Although you forgot he sorted the signings of Holgate, Calvin-Lewin and Lookman.

Definitely didn't sign Holgate, and hard to argue he got Calvert Lewin in just a few weeks after he joined.

To be fair to him he has worked under two managers who want control of signings so not sure what he is supposed to do?

He has as you say sorted out some young players such as Lookman, Vlasic and the lad on loan at Anderlecht (Onyekuru) who i can't believe they haven't recalled!!

The Magnificent Seven Ride Again.....across Belgium:

NP, Shakey, Walsh, Benny, Leo, Wasyl & Bernie star in a box office smash to blow the Vardy film out of the water.

Part of his problem with recruitment was that he clashed with Koeman who as a 'big name' had his own opiniopn for who he wanted to sign... plus walsh really had no say in the Rooney arrival - that ws always going to happen.

If he is left to do his own thing with recruitment he'll get some gems. At Leicester he refused to sanction a signing unless he saw them play personally.

Everton fans are idiots, they were up his arse in the summer proclaiming him a legend because they signed a load of players. It takes time for a team to be forged, not just one season.

Equate that, to a few foxestalk posters, then it gets interesting..:D

76% ... They've got 84500 members and 344 voted to want him out. Hardly tearing him a new one. That says to me, 344 don't like him because they've made the effort to vote, the other 84000 odd aren't really bothered.

As an outsider it looks like he's done a terrible job. But also Everton have the worst fans in the league.

He'll dine out for life on the signings of Vardy, Mahrez and Kante but his record for us was by no means flawless. Particularly when it came to bigger money signings, his signings over about £8m were not at all impressive.

I think like NP he's a man suited to building a good value squad at championship and lower prem level, but beyond that he starts to unravel quite quickly.

Who's record is flawless?

Our signings while Steve Walsh was at the club were pretty incredible. Vardy, Mahrez, Kante all obviously superb. We signed Marc Albrighton, Danny Simpson, Wes Morgan, Robert Huth, Christian Fuchs, Demarai Gray, Shinji Okazaki, Danny Drinkwater and Matty James for around £20m combined or so didn't we? Is that not absolutely incredible value given their contributions? That's not a 'lower Prem level' team we built while he was at the club, it's a team that won the Premier League. Selling either of Kante or Drinkwater covered the cost of all of those signings, many of whom are still doing a very good job for us in the top half of the Premier League.

Heck a fair few of the signings or players we brought in on loan who didn't do a great job for us have gone on to prove they're at the very least good talents, Harry Kane, Jesse Lingard, Michael Keane, Andrej Kramaric.

'By no means flawless' sure, but probably as close to flawless as you'll realistically get.

Obviously if you list all the good signings it looks good. There was a lot of crap signed too, particularly in the higher price points, which was the point I was making

That's not all the good signings. Anthony Knockaert, Lloyd Dyer, Jack Hobbs, Bruno Berner, I could go on, we regularly put together teams that were at the very least good enough for our aspirations at the time when Walsh was here.

Yes we made some poor expensive signings (and some others that weren't at all poor - Shinki Okazaki was one of the most expensive signings we'd made in our history at the time and he's been a fantastic signing). Ulloa did exactly what he was signed for, played a significant part in helping us stay in the Premier League (and you know, then helped us win the Premier League). We consistently improved the quality of our team and consistently improved our league position while he was at the club, we'll make a huge overall profit on the signings we brought in under Steve Walsh even when you take into account the poorer expensive signings.

It looks good because his track record was very very good. Every side makes bad signings, very few make quite as many good to ridiculous signings as we made in the period of time Steve Walsh was at the club

Yep, again, he was very good at building an effective team at lower levels. I guess my main issue with Walsh is that he didn't really come through for us in summer 2016, when we had that once in a lifetime chance to really consolidate ourselves in the top-6, and he gave us a bunch of expensive misfits. At Everton he has continued largely in the same vein, hence my conclusion that past a certain level he may not be the best man for the job.
