How many points in the last 11 matches to make you sold on Puel?

Personally, I think the guy is a terrific hire, and we are absolutely on the right track at the moment, despite Puel screwing up his tactics in the Man City game by leaving us without a MF who could beat the press. IMO we are underperforming, yet there is time to right the ship. We are averaging a hair under 1.3 points per match, which works out to 14.3 points the remainder of the season, leaving Leicester with 49 points. For sake of comparison,  Arsenal project to finish with 63 or so. Almost certainly too far away to catch.

I think it is reasonable to expect to see some improved consistency from our players over this final stretch. We have six winnable home matches -- the best side to come calling is Arsenal, and they have only won twice away from home this season. On the road, we have West Brom, Brighton, Burnley, Palace, and Spurs. West Brom is dead last in the table, that is a must-win. Brighton is a side we are vastly superior to in terms of talent, another winnable away game. This schedule looks to me like it sets up for the Great Escape 2.0.

So what is the expectation in terms of points? I'm at 20. 20 points in our last 11 games is a reasonable goal, a 6-2-3 finish. I figure we can win 4 of 6 at home, 2 of 5 on the road, then find a couple draws in there somewhere. It is a bit aggressive, but 55 points is a terrific season for us, and if we can beat Arsenal, perhaps we can contribute to a late season slide for Wenger. I think that would be enough to clinch 7th, and position us for a possible Europa spot, as well as a team on the rise in the eyes of potential transfers. But if we finished with our average of 14 points or so, or even lower, I think it would raise very serious questions about Puel's long-term future with the club. He needs to get this side firing with some consistency. We cannot keep having matches like the one against Swansea, where we dominate for long stretches but walk away with a point because we cannot finish. We are good enough to score early and often against most of the teams left on our schedule, especially at the KP.

i too think he is a good coach, but what worry's me is his team selections and his inability to make the right changes in matches when we go behind. he seems to wait to long and then throws on the wrong type of player to help the team change the game. i also think this shit with mahrez will see the team fail to secure points for the rest of the season and it will come back and maybe see him lose his job.

As long as we don’t get relegated, he can stay as far as I’m concerned, then see how he gets on with a full preseason, etc.

I am with the OP, believing that another 20 points should be possible. This is based on losing home and away “top 6” fixtures, winning home matches and drawing aways against other teams. 55 points would have earned 8th last season, but might get 7th this.

I very much want continuity or else our squad will become a mess. For the most part I have liked what I’ve seen as there have been glimpses of an excellent team. Momentum from this season may carry into next season too.

so from our final 11 games i’d hope to see a minimum of five good wins and around 18 points

Jury’s out for me. Think he must be a good coach as he tries different things, but will the players trust him when things go wrong?

I say this as you need a strong leader and character, and he seems a bit quiet and dull, and so you could easily see the players turn if he gets it wrong.

And I am thinking he does get a lot wrong. We are great in one half, poor in another and he plays players out of position.

Its fine margins in the Prem and players playing in different positions can lose you that fine margin that can win you a game.

Allowing both Slim and Ulloa to go has cut an option out of our play too.

I think we have a great squad too, we have some real quality in there, especially with Vardy, Mahrez, Ndidi, Maguire and Silva.

i usually would accept our position in the league as it is decent, but current form and weird decisions in tactics, players positions and letting players go make me think this isn’t good, and once it goes bad, I think this guy could lose the dressing room quickly

He needs a summer to try and get rid of some of the rubbish and bring his own players in. I'll then take it from there. Puel has done well to me already - changed our style of play which is great to see because the long ball we were playing under Shakespeare was horrific to watch.

But for this season, I just want to have a real go at the FA Cup.

It’s pretty incredible how he’s developed these players over such a short space of time, making only 1 signing himself.

It's all about performances for me. Games like Swansea happen, we battered them but couldn't kill them off. No real issue there. He has 11 games and a cup competition to finish strongly and build momentum for next season. I'm behind the guy but still not 100% convinced it's been a weird old season and he's done well but then I think back to games against Palace, Watford and Everton where we just haven't turned up.

Unless we lose every game and get close to relegation, he should get the summer to recruit what he wants (assuming he has any say ) The only player he has signed so far is Diabate and he's look good, everything else he has inherited.

Too many players in the team, let alone the squad, are on a downwards trajectory in terms of what they offer.  Simpson and Fuchs are the obvious ones - age has caught up with them, as it has with Morgan.  Watching Fuchs give chase in that game where the rain was pouring down was painful to watch.  Absolutely painful.  If we want to progress as a team we need to drop the reliance on Championship standard players entirely as well.  We can't afford to carry any in the team.  James has to go.  King has one foot out of the door.  Where Amartey fits in I have no idea, but I still don't rate him either.  How much longer do Vardy and Okazaki have at the top level?  A couple of seasons, no more.

Reading that it all looks a little doom and gloom but I do think Puel has done a decent job with what he's got and the manner in which he's gone about attempting to change the style of play has been good for most of the games.  There are still too many weak performances thrown in, even before turncoats departure and subsequent return, for us to be considered a truly decent team.

If he can iron out the inconsistencies next season, replace older squad members sensibly and look to take a greater control of games on a more regular basis next season, then I'll be happy with that.

For right now, he plays his strongest side against Sheffield Utd, no excuses.  Kasper plays, Maguire and Dragovic play, turncoat plays, Vardy up front.  Play the strongest side possible and go from there.  Put Saturday's disappointment behind us.

Stay up this year (maybe win the FA cup)   ......  and once he has had the chance to buy/sell in the summer then the first 6-10 games of next season.

fvck this getting rid every 6 months give the man a chance!

Needs a couple of windows of his own. I think Leicester need some continuity now, especially with the change in style. He needs his chance to bring the players in that he wants and shape the team more. He is doing the best (just about) he can to work with what he has.

Has to get 7th for me.

We're 1 point behind with only 2 of the top 6 left to play (one being Arsenal at home)

And where were we when he took over ?

Unless we some how managed to get relegated, he'll be given the summer. I think he's done really well since he's come in, despite some inconsistency in our performances and his tactical changes - sometimes he's spot on, sometimes makes strange decisions.

But we're finally moving on in terms of the way we play, we now have more possession, don't always revert to hoofing it and can actually look a good side without Okazaki. I'd like to see him buy a new RB (possibly a LB too), attempt replacing Riyad and bring in a striker. Deeney would have been a great fit if we'd have got him 3 years ago but fear we missed the boat.

The fact that we could quite realistically finish 7th (I think we will) and be in with a shout of winning the FA Cup which would arguably be our 2nd best season in our history (?) shows how well he's done.

I'm fairly happy with him and I think we ought to get at least 18 points from these remaining 11 games and I'd be fairly miffed if we fail to secure 7th place. The important things for me though are his tactics and team selection. I'm slightly perplexed at how little he's used Iborra in recent weeks and there's a few players who's form has been very iffy since before Christmas yet they've continued to be picked. Okazaki prior to his injury has been poor, Chilwell heinous and Albrighton is going through one of his average spells after really making a name for himself from November through to Christmas. I think Amartey being binned again is harsh, but it's early days yet whether he'll be brought back in but why Benalouane is on the bench instead of him is beyond me. There's serious question marks over what to do with Demarai Gray as well.

I'm glad he's started to give Iheanacho more game time and I'd play him vs Sheff Utd and Stoke, he's not far off his first PL goals for us.
