I'm thinking if we get this guy, sign a quality LB, hang on to Mahrez and bolster the midfield we'd be pushing for Champions League.

Most of that is simple apart from Mahrez. We need to offer him and Vardy improved contracts, let's say 250k - 300k a week and keep these two on the pitch together. That is more important than anything this summer.

Add to that a decent CB to partner Maguire and I’d agree with you. Easier said than done unfortunately.

25m for another player from a Portuguese club, is he any good? Why have not the top European clubs shown any interest in him? What do the Portuguese fans think of him?

Read a comment from a local Porto fan that we are getting mugged!

Vast majority of Porto fans have said its a bargain and he’s a good player :)

Given that we really need a new starting GK, RB, CB, #10 and Mahrez replacement, I think a LB can wait until next summer.

This is a fair point but it would be sad to sort out the right side and central defence and then be wondering in twelve months  why we failed to reach 6th because of issues down our left side. Fuchs is now the answer if chilly is injured and chilly is possibly the answer if someone better is injured ........  jury remains out on the youngster although he should be pushing on next season with some effective coaching.

I am not remotely offended at all, I really think Simpson is a shithouse, and if you wish me to go into great detail then I shall, I don’t like him because one of the first things I was always told as a modest, amateur footballer is..... that if there’s one thing you do as a full it’s stop the crosses into the box, which in my humble opinion he fails to do... he is also very uncomfortable on the ball, as the Spurs game perfectly demonstrated, as he inexplicably gifted Tottenham’s own Harry Kane, with a belated Christmas present... this is not something I’d expect to see from a “professional” footballer. He may put in the odd decent tackle and covering headers at the far post, however this is the very least I expect of someone in his position. He is slow, clumsy, lacks technical ability and the skill set he does have does not lend itself well to the highest level of football.

I am perfectly aware that he was part of “that side” that won the league, but “that side” was still responsible for some harrowing defending at times, and quite often on his side of the pitch, you can only blame Mahrez’s lack of cover for so long before admitting that Simpson is quite simply a shithouse, and can get in the bin.

Thank you for your detailed response.  X

Spurs wanted him last year just before they signed Aurier.

Very fast and skilled player, can dribble and cross.

His greatest attribute is his stamina, can run around like a Duracell bunny and not get tired.

Only downside is that he‘s not the most physical player, comes across as a bit lanky.

Used to be a winger, converted to a right-back in recent years.

Portuguese international and currently the best right-back in the Liga NOS.

Most comments that I‘ve read from FC Porto fans say that he‘ll be sorely missed and they‘re disappointed they‘re only getting £25m for him (if the sum is close to being correct).

I think it will be addressed in time, but right now we have bigger priorities. Going to cost a fortune already, I'm 50/50 on Chilwell, I certainly don't think he's as bad as gets made out.

Simpson is poor in my opinion.

Some one's opinion can never be wrong.

Its down all down to that person and how they evaluate the player.

No only factual's can prove if actually the player is poor or great.

Opinion's are based on individuals out looks.

This whole site is based in opinions, transfer thread 'who should we sign etc'

I bet Simpson will hardly play next season and that is my opinion stated.
