I guess, but there’s ways and means, surely. Non disclosed fees? Do the deal, and anounce it the day before Mahrez leaves? (Don’t let Mahrez go until his replacement is found?)

I don’t resent this, especially if it’s 60m and Roberts :) I feel the same about this as I do Vardy potentially going to Atletico (don’t think that is as likely though).

These two guys have propelled our club from being comparable to Burton, Derby for example to where we are now. They haven’t only done that but they’ll have presented us with massive sellon profits. That covers the financial side of it.

As for what theyll do against against us? Well Manchester City for me will walk the league next year regardless, probably doing the double over us in the process regardless of his transfer. Atletico we won’t play.

IMO they’ve paid their dues, it’s on us now to press forward if necessary without either and get the purchasing of their replacements right. If we do our jobs properly here on in it won’t matter because we’ll have the quality to not only move on but move upward.

(Edit: it’s also better he goes to Man City than for example arsenal, a team he’d probably improve enough to take our 6th spot for next season. Him going to Man City hurts us less than him going to a team we aren’t far behind.)

I know he can be an excellent player, but don't believe he's as great as he believes that he is.

Yes, players like Messi etc can have off-days, but personally think that Mahrez is too inconsistent to be considered a 'great' player.

A fee of £50m-£65m would be classed as acceptable to a neutral.

Did you hear of a player name Mane? he was pretty much the poster boy of inconsistency at Southampton. Or, you can just look at Raheem

Plus, in that Man city team, the amount of free assists and goals an attacking player can get is ridiculous. It's pretty much a layup.

65 Million is daylight robbery. It's only a bit fair because everyone knows that he will throw his dummy out if he doesn't get his move.

On the flip side, we end up with less negotiating power when trying to buy a replacement after he's gone if everyone knows we got a big fee. There's a downside either way.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking ?

No idea why Chelsea or Man U arent getting involved.

I reckon Chelsea won’t be doing much until Conte situation resolved. And Jose don’t fancy him tbh

Be good to get this done so early in the window. Are we actually doing business in the correct manner this summer?

Is it me or are The Mercury reporting way more speculative transfer stories these days? They'd only ever allude to deals being close when they'd been reported as pretty much done everywhere else. It seems they're trying much harder to gain publicity.

If we sell mahrez for anything  less than 65 million we are a absolute joke of a club.

50 million can only just buy you a top end championship player now.

Jesus, villa rate grelish at 60 million and wtf

Do you know the record championship transfer fee ?

grealish hasn’t moved anywhere so he doesn’t have a price  - and you need to take into account the British players currently have an additional ‘brexit premium’ - no one know what changes in uk employment law will follow in 2020.

It's gonna be obnoxious when he gets called "world class" after few games at Man City like they helped develop him or make him a better player. We will be hearing how Pep transformed him into a great player in no time.

I'll mess pep up if/when this happens.

With the amount of traffic transfer stories get, and the millions of ads on the Merc website, it's really no surprise lol.

Get foden in

No chance Man City are letting him go.

Would love him on loan for a season though!

£85 million ....pay up you cheap cvnts! You are full of money and bought the league anyways. Im not overly impressed with that league win as its an expectation when you are  spending that much and have awesome players in every position. Bit jealous, maybe  but you want one of our best players then meet the price! Lol

Oh and feeeeckkkk offf
