He can have absolutely no excuses now if he fails to deliver like last season.

I agree with that. After the Palace & West Ham games I thought he was done for. I'm still not entirely convinced by him but we need to commit to something one way or another. No point giving managers a half-arsed backing and then wonder why they aren't working miracles.

Jury is definitely out for him but I agree, no excuses now. Lets see where we are in November.

So Sadler goes from technical analyst to first-team coach. Is that right?? If so, that sounds like one heck of a change! Has he been coaching recently?

Appleton hardy had any PL experience, what he had was mainly with us!

But he had experience of English football... this bloke hasn’t coached in over 10 years (*according to Wikipedia), and that was a French second division team and prior to that he worked in Morocco. It just doesn’t feel right.

Best 2nd Division coach. Rudders is forward planning.

We always do in-house promotions - see Rudkin and Stowell etc.

Now we need Wenger as DOF.

In fairness I see he’s been part of the Japan set up in recent years? Still feels a bit iffy though.

We spend all this money on players but cheap out on coaching staff. These two French assistants have done nothing to suggest they warrant a position here, and I’m guessing Stowell has a job for life.

Likewise the 100 million training ground we’re planning but we’ve still got Rudkins old friends Beaglehole and Peake running the youth teams.

As long as this new coaching regime can sort out the defense, then I am happy.  This zonal defending with certain zones left totally un-defended at set pieces was, baffling.

I'd be amazed if any of these changes improve matters. Puel is still the guy on charge so we can expect more of the same... TEN goals conceded in our final two away games, isolated Vardy, listless midfield....the guy must think he's untouchable but he'll be gone by January.

Yeah, he used to coach either the rezzies or youth at Newcastle, can't remember which !!

So we are asking someone with no recent coaching experience - someone who in effect has been watching a computer screen and studying data - tk now take the coaching on???? I must be missing some info here?? That like asking someone good at football manager to now go and manage footballers.

Vardy is isolated when he plays for England, but people love to blame other parts of the team, maybe there is a pattern occurring. Pretty sure it was 5 mistakes for the tottenahm game (Simpson giving the ball to Kane & Choudhury getting done for one of the goals). Palace was awful but we were down to 10 men and the players on the pitch were just at fault as the manager, if not more so as they just didn't bother trying.

Not a chance he will make January. But at least all those who seem to have conveniently forgotten the 2nd half of the season total meltdown cannot now complain that he was not given his opportunity with his own team both on and off the pitch.

I won't 'conveniently forget' all those negative soothsayers who will become mysteriously invisible should they turn out to be wrong. But they really do love to be miserable though, don't they?

@Sharpe's Fox on 24 hour suicide watch after this news

@Webbo, @NotTheMarketLeader, @chapero82 and @Abrasive fox told to go into a darkened room with a cold damp cloth on their foreheads and have a lie down.

Yes indeed.

When he didn’t get the bullet within a week of the season end I’d come to terms with this outcome, as unpalatable as it is.??‍♂️

Rubbish! Gone by November.

At Red Bull Salzburg their assistant manager started out as an analyst. It happens in football that analysts get promoted fairly often as they avoid football’s conventional ‘wisdom’. Puel is obviously happy to work with him.

There are vastly different roles within coaching, he's likely to be running the basics. There are three people ahead of him who will set out the drills etc. They aren't going to hand him the reigns are they.

Sadler’s coached at Norwich, Newcastle, Plymouth and Man City but we’re letting this bloody laptop nerd manage the first team ffs! Health and safety gone mad.

The club have basically said, you are the man, we are supporting you, we are buying the players you want and putting in the staff you want.

It is what every club should do for their manager and hopefully we see the benefits of it.

I think it’s great the club is doing this as if we don’t then any manager we have is destined to fail.

I understand the fans who want Puel to leave and now that Puel has some of the players he wanted and a pre season to sort us out, he’ll have to deliver much more than we achieved last season. European football should be our aim and if we start badly Puel will be under pressure and rightly so.

I’m optimistic as I think we’ve made some shrewd signings and we’re giving Puel’s style a fair crack. Time will tell if it’s the right decision or not.

That’s what one would imagine. But I t read as a more prominent role on the bulletin I saw on sky. It still seems an unusual route to go down. Usually, by the upper echelons of a coaching pyramid, the roles and input are quite specific and specialist. Just seems that there might be more appropriate options to fulfil any coaching role than the technical bloke?
