Mid table but could be in for a relegation scrap if we don't improve the attackers we have, personally just can't see where the goals are going to come from consistently apart from Jamie.

ATM between 13th to 17th, the squad right now looks a bit too much on the average side, back end of last seasons form doesn't fill me with confidence, I'm not sure much will change regarding playing style, we've also lost Mahrez which doesn't help matters.

We are in the bracket with so many teams who can finish anywhere between 7th to 20th, teams we should be competing with have done better business, while there's a handful of teams who are much weaker than us.

Lower mid table for sure.

8th - 12th.

There will be plenty of teams going for top 10 though. Us, Everton, West Ham, Southampton, Wolves....

I have literally no clue. Exciting or excruciating. I think we'll either have a brilliant season and crack the top 7, or a disastrous one and get relegated. It'll be one or the other, but it won't be mid table security.

Even two years on I love seeing posts like this, part of the absurdity of it will never sink in for me.

Not sure about Southampton. They lacked a goalscorer last season and still haven't signed one. Charlie Austin was their top scorer last season on 7 goals, and they sold their second-top goal scorer.

It's still too early to guess, mainly because of potential/likely permutations within the squad to come.

I consider it rather unlikely we'll finish anywhere near the Top Six. Even if we should finish 7th, I think there will still be a large gap to 6th place.

Anywhere between 8th and 12th would be realistic.

This mainly down to the loss of Mahrez and the uncertainty of a "replacement" or two equally talented wingers for both the left and the right side of the pitch, uncertainty over some of the players' future this summer, a handful of new arrivals that need to fit in first and the implementation of a new system, focusing on a short-passing approach.

All of that willl take time.

And let's not forget Puel will be monitored more closely this time around. Another slump like the one during the second half of last season will not be overly tolerated by both the fans and the club management.

Having said that, the start of the season will probably be tough and filled with frustration. So, I see LCFC as some kind of surprise package. It can go extremely well or we'll end up in utter mediocrity.

Honestly think we can get between 5th-7th but must keep key players, it's going to depend a lot on how the first 10-15 games pan out so hopefully Puel has the team on his side, can not see us doing any worse than last year put it that way.

WOW!

so much optimism!

Can't any of you remember how the team performed under Puel? (once the new-manager-bounce thing had worn off)

It was dire.

With him in charge: RELEGATION.

is it a struggle being as optimistic as you mate?

A full preseason?

Signings made by him and not inherited ?

New backroom staff?

Only one key player sold?

But yeah we are going to get relegated without us even kicking a competitive ball its doom and gloom. Christ maybe, just maybe try and fill that cup up a little bit? you never know you might actually enjoy watching LCFC

Jesus.

To be fair, he was trying to implement a possession based system without really having the right players in the 2nd half of last season.

We would all like some more creativity but you would hope a Maguire/Evans partnership would be more comfortable on the ball than one with Wes. Pereira is likely to be much better in the oppositions half than Simmo and Maddison looks the type of player we were screaming out for. Yes, the loss of Mahrez is a blow but we all knew it was coming. We all remain a little unconvinced by Gray but what's the point in even having him if we don't give him a decent run in the side?

I could end up with egg on my face here but predicting relegation (in capital letters, no less) seems overly pessimistic to me.

I stick by what I've said.  I will apologise and eat my words if we play okay in the first 10 games. Will you do the same if The Puel Dull-as-ditchwater Direness is as evident as in Feb/Mar/Apr ??? I expect a response by the middle of October!!!!!

(......also expect a sacking!)

Even as bad as we were, with him in charge our points average was comfortably enough to stay up.

People really overestimate the quality of this division, remove the top four and it's pretty terrible, Burnley even qualified for Europe.

You have got to be absolutely shocking to be relegated these days.

Yeah, I think most of us want to see LCFC succeed. We’re just not getting our dobber floating over the thought of the manager failing before we get there.

Sadly it’s too early to tell where we are in the scheme of things - but that’s a worry, because I don’t feel we are as fully prepared as a team as we could be, with 2 weeks to go (World Cup year doesn’t help, but still).

I also sense a fair few clubs around us last year have stabalised or improved, which will make that mid table battle - that can soon turn into a relegation scrap - all the harder.

There’s also a feeling that the promoted clubs won’t be automatic relegation contenders and that more will be know of their fates as the season develops.

Looking at the fixtures - can’t help feel it’s our first home game, against Wolves, is the massive fixture, that have a big effect of how the first part of the season goes. Win and there’s the real prospect of 6 points from 12... lose, and we could be behind the 8 ball really early on.

so you are the type of person that takes enjoyment from the 'I told you so' line.  So you will give Puel till mid October? very kind of you.....

To answer your question - Yes.

I don't have a problem admitting anything. What I don't do is write off my manager before a competitive ball has been kicked this season.

You can send your 'told you so' response any time you want. If we're shite and struggling, what do you expect me to say, we're brilliant? I'd like to think I'm above that if it's staring me in the face.

I remain to be convinced by Puel but I'd rather deal in facts. Last season is inconsequential now.

We'll see.

So I have places 1 to 17, any of those and you are completely and entirely wrong then?

You have places 18-20, any of these and I will of course apologise, tell you I was wrong and hide in a dark room. I expect the same courtesy in return if we're 17th or above.

Lets make it 1-14th  i'm wrong (together with the 93% of City fans who voted Puel should go, back in April).

16-20th would appear to be a relegation battle and a 'I told you so'  scenario!

By the way - I am a mad keen City fan (since 1968) but NOT a Puel fan. Just like when Everyone was kissing Paulo Sousa's a**e and mine was the only voice of reason then.

9 games, 7 defeats later and, strangely, people stopped slagging me off (it got really unpleasant!) and suddenly came up with their "I always said he should go" comments.

Puel not as bad as Sousa, but still Dire!

Nah mate, no backtracking from you now.

If Puel's there for a whole season you said relegation. In fact, you wrote it in capitals just to make sure everyone noticed it.
