purpleronnie Posted 1 May 2019 Posted 1 May 2019 Quite an easy ajax/Barcelona prediction...English clubs still seemingly unable to break through.
fuchsntf Posted 1 May 2019 Posted 1 May 2019 This was a great CL night.Good football played all night.... 2 cut diamond goals,a rebound set up on a plate Some great shot stoppers... Oh and that Argentinian...M E S S I... 600 goals...

StanSP Posted 1 May 2019 Posted 1 May 2019 Seeing a lot of comments on social media from Liverpool fans being annoyed at Barcelona players going down easily. Have they genuinely forgotten what Salah has been up to for the last couple of seasons?!

ScouseFox Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 hard luck on liverpool tbh, genuinely don’t think i’ve ever seen a team go to barcelona (or even any of the big 4 or 5 european teams) and have them spend a good 25 minutes just goofing the ball clear and fouling the opposition. but they didn’t score and then conceded two goals you can’t really account for. as for the “scousers” in the main square the night before, there was not a lot of scouse accents on the go in the videos i saw.

Liverpool can be ridiculously clinical at home especially when Firmino will be starting no doubt and their front 3 is back to normal. Barca fluffed a similar lead against Roma last season so I'm hoping they've learnt from that. It's a strong lead (that could have been made stronger if it wasn't for Dembele releasing his inner Akinbiyi) but if they get a goal at Anfield that will give me a bit more confidence. Its over bro! Not that liverpool wont run up the score but the fact they didnt score an away goal is huge. There is 0 chance messi or suarez don't score. I dont think anyone is beating barca in the final
Dan Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 This Liverpool side is probably the best I can remember that will end the season trophyless.

I was genuinely surprised by klopp in that second half. He has very successful European experience to draw on and he seemed to just forget it. the most important thing in the first leg of a two leg tie is to make sure you stay in it for leg 2. Quite rightly they went all out for the away goal and put Barca under tremendous pressure. But at some point you have to make the call that finishing 0-1 is more important. And if you do go 0-2, then you simply cannot then chase that away goal with abandon. yes they were unlucky not to nick a goal but the closest they came was at 0-3 and the horse is already galloping over the horizon at that point. Easy to be wise after the event but I called it during the half around 65/70 mins and I’m surprised Jurgen didn’t see the dangers clearly enough.

Like you though I'd love to see Ajax do it. Would be one of the all time great CL stories if they can.

They tried to get that all important away goal, they didn't go gung-ho,but did try to force themselves onto the game... I They played well, but just couldn't steal the moments that counted. Their Gk earned his pennies, some great saves real showstoppers. The game just didn't have one Letter for L'pool in the way it panned out. Just one of those nights where just one man was going to take the night, and take the P!audits...Messi is just always there, even when you think you have quietented him.... No use cherry picking, where it could of ram better...could have, should have, just doesn't fit... My ideas, your ideas, would also just bounce off the wall of fate.......Semi-final-CL. On his own patch Messi night!!patch 21 damn good players last night..One other riding the wing of a different beast!!!

I don't think you can really sit back and absorb the pressure from Barca, Messi can create something from nothing. They were right in pushing Barca and putting them under pressure. On another day Liverpool score 2 or 3. 3-2 would have been a good result. The 1st and 2nd goals were just defence splitting passes, the 1st one van Dijk was lazy, the second was just good football in a tight space. Nothing tactics could have changed. The 3rd was a free kick from 35 yards that he had no right of putting in the net. Right at the end Barca could have got 2 more with the 3 on 1's they had. I wouldn't say tactically it was a bad game from Liverpool. No one can sit back and defend for 90 minutes in the Nou Camp and expect a clean sheet, it comes down to how good their attack and Messi in particular is.
Jattdogg Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 To me its the semis, you go all out to win at this point. Losers go home anyways. Given both clubs can be lethal pulling a burnley isnt an option. Clearly i just want to see exciting football! Lol
stripeyfox Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 That must be the best any team has played who went on to lose the game by 3 goals!
Chester Dontlie Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 I'm pretty sure there's a fair amount of bandwagoners and 'wannabe-scousers' among those travelling fans too. I'm very glad Barcelona whipped them, I have to say yesterdays game made some 'woken' Liverpool fans I'm working with refreshingly humble I reckon after the second leg and (hopefully) another trophyless season most of them will crawl back to to whatever hole they came from... or most likely go back to supporting some other big club who are more likely to win something! As for the likely winner, like Suzie and others on here, my heart says Ajax but my mind says Barca (I believe Spuds will do their job and bottle their second leg)

Wolves were the better side crazily, and played that well they got a standing ovation from the fans at the final whistle! Weirdest game I've ever been to.

Corky Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 Some fans upset with Lineker celebrating a goal that his former club scored that wasn't shown live. No doubt these people were similarly annoyed when Carragher celebrated live on air.
