Can see Man U making huge offer for Maguire

TA contract has 9 months left and spurs want nearly 50m

Boatengs not interested

Mina looks like going elsewhere although been offered for Pogba plus cash and Gomes.

70m plus, the club would be crazy not to accept if they have cover coming in.

The chances off his stock ever being this high again are pretty remote.

A good World Cup against pretty average teams and the propaganda machine is in full effect.

I thought the transfer season closed at 5pm Thursday?

Oh, my mistake. Thought you meant before the first game Suzie.

He also plays as a CDM so he may be used alongside Ndidi as a two-man holding midfield? It would explain why we are going for both Soyuncu & Benkovic. Just a thought.

Yep, I can see this now. Everything points towards it.

I think spurs have an option to extend it by a year. But that also triggers a £24mil release clause

Exactly.

We’ll sign one and go with Evans, Maguire, Morgan and a new signing.

Do you not think the most likely scenario is sign both of them and sell Maguire? If we've had indications of a fee that we're happy with for Maguire we might be doing our business before we make it public so the selling clubs don't fleece us for a few more quid.

Personally no. Maguire is indispensable to the club and they’ve made that clear by saying it would take a world record fee to prise him away from us. The owners are very stubborn. We don’t need the money. Just look at Mahrez and how resistant we are with that saga.

They see Maguire as future captain of the club.

United have also also had a bid accepted for Mina.

To make it clear you say 'Not at any price'. To say it would take a World record bid when the figure being bandied about is close to that anyway, isn't really making it clear imo.

Puel certainly wants our play to come from the centre backs that's for sure. Massive change in style from our previous few years.

Evans can also play left back and CDM. Amartey plays centre half for Ghana and plays right back here.

It will make it easier to get Tony Pullis to take over in October, then we can line up like this:

                Slimani           Ulloa

         Ndidi       Iborra        Soyununca

Evans Morgan Benalouane Benkovic Amartey

                          Schmeichel

How many times have you seen “not for sale at any price” and then players move. Every player has a price. The club know that United are reluctant to pay £80m for a player who has had one decent season in the prem and a decent World Cup.

But even if we have cover coming in they would be an unknown quantity and certainly not ready at this stage of the season. It would make more sense to see how they go and if they turn out well then sell slab head in January.

I’d argue he’s had 2 pretty good seasons in the prem

But the fee being banded about is close to that and maybe Man Utd just pay the asking price to get it over the line this late in the day?

We can't really keep happy players who attract world record bids so they'll be gone sooner or later if they hold their value,

The most unlikely scenario for me is we have Maguire, Evans, Benkovic and Soyuncu here in 30 hours time.

they do, thats why i think the Alderweireld to Man Utd has more about it that the HM going Utd one, since Im sure Spurs will want money for TA rather than lose him for £24mil if they extend his contract,

and the player wants out of Spurs too, so that one has more too it than Utd paying over £75mil for HM

I agree. Had a good solid season at Hull at stood out in a poor team. This year you can say hes made mistakes but really he's not had the greatest of cover next to him on either side. In a solid defence at somewhere like United he would be immense i am sure of it. DO NOT SELL.

One of those players we need to build the team around. With Evans or one of the two touted CB's next to him plus a (hopefully) improved Chilwell this season he will be our rock.

I understand that. That's why, if Man U do match 'our' price, I think he'll be gone. Hence the relatively frantic couple of days regarding centre backs.

I'm not saying I'm all for it by the way, I'll just be surprised if we do sign two centre backs and keep everyone else.

The assumption here is for five months, assessed outside the lens of post-WC and transfer window daftness, he'll play like a £70+ million player. Given he didn't play like one last year, I'm not sure that will be the case.
