One of my favorite parts of a new season is reading the pundits’ “Who won the transfer window” analyses.  Widely differing views because many incoming players are not well known, and it’s guesswork how they’ll do in the PL.

It will be very interesting to see what is made of LCFC’s dealings.  On the one hand, we sold the most valuable asset of any PL club.  And the player we signed in that position (probably) wasn’t among our priciest buys.  But we strengthened significantly in every other position of need, signed several highly promising young players, and may have grabbed the best English playmaker to emerge in a while.

What a surprising window.

  - Two promoted clubs bought quantity plus quality without recent precedent.

  - Man U whiffed on about five CBs, plus other targets, some of whom were said to have refused to play for Mourinho.

  - Claude made a funny.

I would give our dealings a 7/10.  (Assuming the club are ready to cut ties with players unlikely to fit in and contribute.)  And capped by a stress-free deadline day

BUT this was also a window which may strengthen us more for a year or two out, than position us for an immediate challenge for European football.  I foresee a squad which will need some time but become stronger in the winter and spring.  Which may be a Cup contender given the youth and depth in defense.  But which will not satisfy supporters who demand immediate gratification.

What not to like? Got rid of mardy arse Mahrez, finally got a decent no 10, and totally transformed the defence. Only nagging issue is not getting an outstanding winger as the options we have seem a bit underwhelming.

I’d give it 8/10, at least for a few weeks until we’re all slagging off Rudkin again and blaming him for the worst window ever after it’s all gone tits up.

I'm just glad we've fixed the massive mess that was our defense.

Maddison: We've had a huge hole in our team that is the number 10 spot, this kid looks special and could finally be that much needed link between midfield and attack.

Pereira: [Fairly] young Portuguese international which is molded from the modern day wingback. No disrespect to Simpson, but we now have someone who can help out in attack, and  actually cross the ball.

Benkovic: Again young and ball playing, a far greater back up option to Morgan and Benny (who in my opinion shouldn't be near the 1st team)

Ghezzal: This was a very confusing transfer, the jury is out. Puel obviously see's something in him, so good luck to the lad. Will at least be a good asset for cup runs.

Ward: We over paid for him, but he provides solid competition to Kasper, if god forbid he gets an injury.

Evans: An absolute steal at £3m, great prem experience.

Soyuncu (TBC): A very promising ball playing CB, who could in the coming weeks push straight into the starting XI. The fact Arsenal has a £35m bid denied only a month ago, just shows the guys talent.

All in All we've invested wisely and learnt from our mistakes, we need to get rid of the deadwood and we're probably at a winger short.

I'd like to see us play 3 at the back with the depth in CB we have now. The big news is we kept Maguire.

A lot will come down to how the players we've brought actually do, but I'd give us an 8 or even 8.5 out of 10. This is the first time (maybe ever) where I could say that we purchased a player for every potential problem we might have:

- 3 new centre backs, two of which are young prospects. One is a proven Premier League player and title winner. Work permit permitting of course.

- Brought a number 10 that looks brilliant.

- Right back who can get forward and support the play.

- Replaced Hamer

- Replaced Mahrez

- Kept Kasper, Maguire and Vardy

Really the only thing that stops the score being higher is because on paper the Ghezzal deal looks weak. We've replaced one of the best wingers in the world with someone that is relatively unproven at the top level. Looking at our rivals, they brought in Anderson and Yarmalenko (West Ham), Bernard (Everton), Schrulle (Fulham), Jahanbaksh (Brighton) and Adama Traore (Wolves). On paper I'd day ours is the worst of those players, though we will only find out for sure when he plays as we might end up with a bargain. I was expecting someone who was slightly more of a name such as Thorgen Hazard or Adnan Januzaj and was secretly hoping we'd break the bank and sign either Malcom or Leon Bailey. I understand we were one of many teams that were in for Malcom, but we were never going to compete with either Roma or Barcelona on that one.

I'd say this is the best our squad has ever looked, though the first team is not as strong on paper as the title winning team.

Plenty of reasons to be excited though!

The way I'm looking at this window....

Gk. We've improved the squad by adding a better 2nd choice than what we had.

RB. We've improved the first team by adding a far superior RB than what we had.

CB. We've VASTLY improved  both the squad AND the first team by adding 3 quality players to the position.

No.10. We have improved the first team with Maddison being an improvement on what we had.

Strikers. We are the same as we were last year, no better,no worse.

LB. We are the same as we were last year,no better,no worse.

CM. You could MAYBE argue that we are ever so slightly stronger than last year as a squad because we have King and Mendy back but we've certainly not added more quality to the starting CM's.

Wingers. No denying that we are weaker as a squad and starting 11 on the wing. Lost Mahrez and replaced him with a pound shop Mahrez.

On a whole I think we done OK. We DEFINATELY added quality but not in all the positions we needed it. One more winger away from a great transfer window.

We will be harder to beat than we were last year but I don't see us scoring or creating as much either. UNLESS we utilize what we have to the maximum and play 3 at the back with WB's and Maddison behind nacho and vardy but I just don't see Puel doing that to be honest.

7/10 I'd rate this window.

Very badly in terms of moving players on. Paying the price for dishing out massive contracts to sub standard players

Where did I say that mate. Proof or fake news. Or maybe I was being satirical again as the marks started at 7 then 8 then 8.5.

Ghezzal was a disaster. Early business was decent. If we get both CB’s it has been good.

Time will tell. We won't know until we see them play. Fingers crossed that they're all successes.

I'd wait and see how we get on where it counts before worrying about how the transfer window has gone. Spurs haven't signed anyone but i bet they'll still finish up there.

There is still a month to move players on!

Think we are light in attack to be honest, would have felt better with either another winger or striker depending on the formation we go for!

If we are looking at playing with wingers then I think we look a bit thin.

If we are looking to play with wingbacks then we are gonna win the league.

I think providing there are no silly outgoings from now, such as say, a big Spanish club signing a player off us (which I cannot see happening) we've actually had a seriously decent window. One of the best in the league.

Credit to everyone involved. I think they've got this one right. The odd one I question but we've by and large signed highly rated younger players with potential. It's exactly the kind of thing we should be doing.

Our best window for a while, we've signed much needed quality, most of which have years ahead of them which is a great thing unless Man City come sniffing in a year lol

Like others have said I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't get in another attacking player, all the pressure will be on Maddison now. Not confident in the Ghezzal signing.

Evans, Benkovic, Pereira, Maddison and Soyuncu are all positive much needed signings.

I'm more confident than I was a couple of weeks ago that's for sure, top ten finish hopefully :fc:

very good transfer window for us imo, brought in players in areas we needed too, think the only areas i think we should have brought another in in is out wide but all in all i think weve had a very good transfer window

8.5/10 would have been a 10/10 if we managed to get one of alireza, thorgan or bailey

why cant any of our fans let it go, that ship has sadly sailed, we had a chance to get him we missed it(wish we had of got him then, as hes a hell of a player and i wish he was at LCFC), wont come here now after how hes been playing in Germany

Solid window, could have done with another attacking player!

Should have gone in with a 30m bid for Diouf.. Would have solved this issue!
