vanity Posted 25 August 2018 Posted 25 August 2018 I get that Puel is going to get stick, and maybe the sack if we keep playing like this. But FFS, our players aren't out of bed yet. We are losing the ball bc Southampton want it more than we do, that is the entire difference between the two sides in the game. Personally, I'd pull Mendy for Silva. Not bc Mendy has been poor (he hasn't), but bc we're really struggling at times getting out of our own half. People are bitching about Amartey, but he can't find an outlet bc the midfield is just standing there. Silva would be moving and helping Amartey with a target. Unfortunately, Puel has consistently underestimated the impact of one of the MF 2 being good on the ball, plus Mendy is French, so he may be locked into the midfield until he inevitably gets injured. If that is the case, we are going to be a bit toothless going fed against pressing sides. I'd also sub Amartey for our new wing, move Pereira back to RB, see if that gets us going. Adding two attacking players who are good on the ball would help a great deal, and I think that back 4 with Ndidi and Silva in front will be ok.
