Claude Puel wants Leicester City to go all the way in the Carabao Cup
Foxes boss sees competition as an opportunity for silverware

Claude Puel is hopeful Leicester City can last the course in the Carabao Cup as he considers the competition an opportunity for silverware.

After watching his side dismantle a much-changed Fleetwood outfit 4-0 at the King Power Stadium, Puel said his objective was to remain in the competition “until the end”.

“At the beginning, when we play this competition, to continue until the end, of course, is always the objective,” Puel said.

“Of course the Premier League is always important, we want to finish as high as possible. But a cup is a possibility to win something. We want to play this cup with the intensity, the quality and I hope until the end."

Puel was delighted with the performance produced by his players, and their desire to push for goals right until the final whistle.

The City boss was also pleased the 10,000-strong crowd was treated to a couple of excellent goals from Christian Fuchs and Rachid Ghezzal.

“It was a very good, professional performance because it’s never easy to play in the cup,” he added.

“We know the fighting spirit of the opponent, it’s always important to give our best, to keep a good structure, good quality in the play, simplicity also.

“I was impressed a lot with this performance because we played very well until the end of the game, giving a good feeling for our fans and for themselves. They enjoyed the game with fantastic moves, working together to recover the ball, and scored two fantastic goals.

“I made some rotation from the last game. We are at the beginning of the season, it’s important to give game-time for the players, because all the players will be important for the team. I was impressed with the mentality.”

Somewhere local to me where we can take good numbers, Blackpool or Preston would be ideal. Blackburn too.

Failing that, League 1 or 2 opposition at home.

Time we got Spurs away again isn't it?

Winnable home tie for me, or a local away. Burton, Derby, would even take Preston or a smaller London club.

Winnable games would be a home draw against a fellow Prem side like Burnley who have played lots of games and need some focus on the league. Yes, Burnley at home please.

It occurred to me yesterday that we actually do have some really decent depth in the squad. Maybe not so much in attack but in most other positions we do.

Puel saying the right things again.

Why on earth is this tomorrow and not today?

Macclesfield away is the one for sure but it's blatantly going to be one of the big six.

An away day that's be a new ground to visit and is also a winnable game. That's all I ask of our cup draws. Someone like Macclesfield.

Agreed. Always enjoy the draw in the evening after the last tv game. God knows why it can't be done then.

Seems odd when the CL draw will overshadow it too

Oxford away would logistically work for me

The draw is still North/South though I haven't seen to the exact list but we're going to be in the northern pot.

Haven't seen anything about this, I would expect it to be open from now on.
