Weak mentality at the end from some there, second half I can understand hanging onto a lead but we almost blew 3-0 away, Pickford should've given a pen away, Morata should've put a rebound in two yards out, we didn't have a shot on target second half. Wins a win but you want to see players defending with everything and trying to score more. Crap ref too

What a player Chilwell is, not fased at all with the step up again, getting really really classy. Maguire shaky at times, looks better in three at the back, so he either improves with us at Leicester in the two at the back role/position or he's going to find good performances for England harder to get. Frustrating Madders din't get on, suppose being in and around the senior team would've showed him what it's about and if his confidence showed through to Southgate it's not out of the question him being called up again soon.

Good result. A* half. Let's hope it's good for confidence and the jitters can then be addressed

We signed him on a permanent deal last summer...

Fair play but the point stands as without the connection there is much less chance he would be anywhere near the England team

Can’t believe how Chilly has settled into this  England team.  The England Team!! He’s come on leaps and bounds, and has one hell of an engine.

Next up, the boy Maddison....

But Rose will replace Chilwell next time out.. Because he plays for the wonderful,  gloriously successful Bottling Hotspur!

The nation's league has been quite a good idea from UEFA tbh, there's definitely more to it than just a friendly and we get to play more semi-competitive games against good opposition compared to just steamrollering Lithuania in qualifying.

No problem - there are a lot with Chelsea connections in the squad in terms of youngsters (or other big clubs)

As  I say Chalobah has pretty much been involved with England even when injured so clearly Southgate rates him even if the guy doesn't play much.

I said at the time of the squad announcement Will Hughes was probably unlucky not to be called up if Chalobah was.

The call ups for Winks and Chalobah are more about the type of player we have, besides Dier we don't have another proper DM (Henderson is box to box player) so for the long term integration it makes sense. Winks is the same, we don't have any other midfielders that are very comfortable ball players in deep positions.

Maybe just maybe...Rashford and Sterling grew up tonight..

Barkley,Winks ,looked better than anything we have seen ,in this last year, they held up well...when not driving forward.

I like Gomez and Maguire pairing...they were tested tonight.

Mr Southgate...you hold onto this star...The fans will warm to your England side!!!

There's no way Spain would've reacted that way at the end if it had been a friendly.

Glad madders was left on the bench. Tonight was a great night and to be fair the lads starting deserve all the plaudits.

His debut, would just be lost

JM will have his day.

Our goals were great, but if Spain has tabloids, they will be saying the equivalent of "We wuz robbed". lol

I said the same but thinking about it the referee robbed us in the same fixture at Wembley.

Funny how we play counter attack when one of the best counter attack strikers retires

We're playing good teams in this competition. No good trying to play counter attack against Lithuania.

Dier isn't even a proper player, never mind proper DM.

Rated him a few years back, but his regularly featuring in the England team recently is a damning indictment of our current crop of midfielders.

The ironic thing is that for a player that was developed in Portugal he's so stereotypically English, awkward on the ball, not particularly intelligent but physical
