He's still the best right back in the squad.

Amartey is so limited against anyone half decent and now everyone seems to have accepted Ricardo can't play the position.

Summer recruitment again seems more than a little bit ridiculous.

Amartey played well today. Wouldn’t want Simpson starting for us again, complete liability and was a disgrace last season. Looked overweight, lacked effort (which should be the minimum considering his actually ability which is league 2 standard).

To be fair, far more impact on the Arsenal bench to change things though.

True, but it wasn't just the subs for Arsenal it was the way their manager analysed the first half and knew how to turn the game around. Puel and indeed our players had no answer and no plan B. It was almost as if we actually thought we could hold on for a draw.

Arsenal took control because their manager at halftime told them how to beat us , and Puel hadn't got a clue what to do about it. That is the reality and no I don't need a check.

If Puel had that quality to call on....he would of won that game...

Nope, I'm saying they need to keep their shape not that they shouldn't push up. Look at our shape when it starts, it's laughable. Evans miles up pitch, Maguire and then Amartey all in some diagonal. They have to charge back, backs are the to play, can't see their men, Maguire never gets back inline and get ripped to bits.

But you have to acknowledge how they’ve got to that position. You cant see Aubameyang on that shot.

If Maguire don’t follow the runner as you suggested originally, you still have Aubameyang free to finish off. The beauty of goals comes from the passing at the start.

Neutrals are raving about it online

did he really need to them lol? basically carried on from where it ended in the first half. as soon as the first goal went in it was all arsenal.

Simpson now becoming a great player the more time he's out. Can we just remember he was very much part of the team losing and playing so badly under Ranieri, under Shakepeare and then under Puel.

If Simpson had any desire in getting himself back into this team, he wouldn’t be ****ing off Dubai every time he has three days spare

I don't call wasting guilt edged chances being in control, it's a lack of composure and even if we were 3-0 we'd not have won the game tonight as we are vulgar at the back.

but we were in control of the match creating all those chancing and not giving them a sniff. i was half bevvied but pretty sure just before we scored we’d had 5 shots to their 2 or something. then after they’d gone 3-1 up about 40 minutes later the same graphic came up with us having 5 attempts to their 15 or something.

nothing much changed in that hour or so apart from our approach to the game.

when we play decent teams we either let them get in front then play well or we go in front then shit it. i get that we are a young team but that can’t keep being our excuse for not handling even the slightest bit of pressure.

luckily i had my max bet on 1-1 half time score in about the 40th minute because it happens every time. if we see a game out to either half time or full time it’d be amazing. but we can’t. as soon as a team gets a head of steam up against us we inevitably end up conceding, it’s disgusting.

If Simpson came back into the team I think it would tip me over the edge and I wouldn't bother watching. Just watching him smash aimless balls up the park for the u23s is enough for me.

To say Arsenal won the game because of their subs is just laughable. They came out the second half knowing exactly how to stuff us and proceded to do so. Man against boy ( and I mean the respective managers )

Don’t you think he’ll come good again then?

For sure. But doesn’t mean he’s immune to criticism. Today Puel should have pulled the poor guy, he was clearly ill. But it make me wonder if he lied to Puel... which shows a relationship issue.

Shocking result

It's not really though is it, we've not won there since the 70's. It's exactly the result I've expected at Arsenal since I stated supporting us.

So why didn't he just leave the same players on if he was so sure that this plan was just going to beat us anyway.

Yes but we went in halftime level, then for some reason thought we could just come out second half and play the same tactics. Laughable, and played straight into their hands.

So that's it then is it? No point trying to being in replacements? Just stick with what we've got, stop it hahahahaaa. We simply don't have enough options, we've binned off Slimani, Musa and loaned out Barnes. We've brought in Ghezzal and Maddison to cushion the Mahrez loss and that's it. I'm simply not accepting the excuse that because Mahrez was as good as he was, it's led to an impasse on bringing in attacking options.

That's not what I'm saying. However you can only bring in a player who wants to come here and at the moment it doesn't look like we're very attractive for any quality and/or confirmed attacking player. For whatever reason.

I'm not advocating for a status quo or an eternal mid-table mediocrity but the thing is that we had three world class players who made a hell lot of a difference and sky rocketted the expectations. Two of them are gone and the last one, the tip of the spear isn't going along with the manager. We don't have a great team at the moment. Just 3-4 potentially very good players with the rest aging or being meh or both. Results and performance are following accordingly

I know you being one of the most sensible posters here and while I understand your frustration (I am too) I still don't exactly know what you're expecting.

I'm certainly not Puel out but those substitutions tonight...

Albrighton - seemed to change the system and nobody knew what they were doing for the next 5-10 minutes.

Ghezzal - Genuinely bemused why we signed this guy, we would've looked a better side if he would've gone off to help Vardy with wiping his arse.

Okazaki - Ran about a bit but other than that had little impact, game was already over.

Who else was he supposed to bring on? By managing to get Nacho, Vardy, and Maddison on together from the start of the match, and letting Ulloa and Slimani leave in the summer, we literally have no one to bring on to make a difference in an attacking sense.

Arsenal just have a superior squad, which showed today when the substitutions were made at 1-1.

All the quality he sent out on loan.

What quality do we have out on loan exactly? I doubt Slimani is the answer, if you say Barnes then give it a rest. He's a completely unproven kid, he's in and out of games at Championship level let alone premier. He isn't the answer at the moment.

Hit the bar to go 2-1 ahead, should have had a blatant penalty.

The piece of sloppy play on the stroke of half time was what cost us, completely different game 2nd half if we went in 1-0 ahead as deserved.

Bogey ground, big Bogey.

Well you obviously know little about football or you’re looking for a bite because that’s a ridiculous statement.
