moore_94 Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 Can definitely see how Puel has improved our defence Schmeichel joint 3rd for clean sheets this season
Ted Maul Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 Our defence looks sorted- we're conceding very few goals and full backs are providing plenty of attacking threat. If we had a bit more quality in the forward positions and a midfielder who could pick a pass and fit the system, we'd be some side.
Keiriel Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 Puel has always cared about clean sheets, so much so that he's thinking about our future clean sheets! Why do you think he brought in Calgon?
Suzie the Fox Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 Our defence last year was meh at best, it felt like every time the opposition got a corner it was a goal waiting to happen. Really good to not feel like that now and to see positive stats backing this up..
RumbleFox Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 It's great to see and every great manager I have ever heard talks about "building from the back". Cliche or not the signs are good. X
st albans fox Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 And Newcastle in fifth ......... stats .....

Its about our defence compared to where we were last season, and that is a massive improvement Once we get over the loss of Mahrez and improve our attacking numbers we could have a very good team

Christoph Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 A little surprised by that in some ways. Feels like we concede the first goal in most of the games we play. Clearly not then.

urban.spaceman Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 5th best defence. 3rd best clean sheets. 7th in the league. I’ll say it again. We are secretly having an excellent season. Puel out.

StanSP Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 Get another striker in and we're ready to win the league.

egg_fried_rice Posted 11 January 2019 Posted 11 January 2019 What have we changed to shore us up do we think? CBs are certainly getting caught high up the pitch less often. This is most obvious in the drop off in Harry's forward rampages. It also seems to me that when we are in shape, the distance between our players is much less - really getting back to that compact shape we saw in our title campaign. Anything else stand out?

Mendy and Ndidi, I know the lack of creativity is an issue, but both work very hard over 90 minutes.

That's a part of it, as is the CDM's.... but also being far better at set pieces. We conceded so many it was getting stupid, now they are few and far between.
Guest Posted 12 January 2019 Posted 12 January 2019 A clean sheet either means you're a virgin or you had a poor night.
