Basically said something I’ve long said about Mahrez about how he never downed tools or refused to play. It was agents, promises and owners that escalated the situation.

Mahrez downing tools was a fantasy made up by the same people who continue to berate our current players for not putting in 10/10 performances week in, week out. It's like form doesn't exist in these people's minds.

Utter bollox.

As has been said above, he went missing, didn’t turn up for training and tried to force a move.

That amounts to ‘downing tools’ to normal people who don’t have a hyper positive agenda when writing on this forum.

so please explain exactly what Shakespeare has to gain at this current point in time by stating that he didn't 'down tools'?

he no longer works with the club or Mahrez, isn't likely to work with Mahrez again, ever -  so what's his agenda, exactly?

I know, I know - I'm not running about like a headless chicken waving my little pitchfork at Puel and whichever player is the latest scapegoat but 'hyper-positive agenda'? lol

....or he was given time off to sort a deal. Just because the club chooses to keep these things in house doesn't mean there wont be any number of answers to questions that the media pretend to know or make up.

For the 1684268416872nd time, he was put on gardening leave by the club and when he came back he ran his absolute bollocks off.

Always liked the bloke and feel he was in a no win situation taking the managers job for us...

He was a victim of his own success. The 5 wins in a row meant he earned the right to the job, but it was clear the club never really fancied him given how long it took to appoint him and how quickly he was kicked out. A bit of a shame really, as even if he shouldn't have been made manager, he contributed an awful lot to the club over many years. Kind of surprised he didn't join Pearson at OHL actually.

Wouldn't surprise me if he's Pearsons replacement at Leuven when the time comes

Shakespeare had gone by the time the “strike” happened, I assume he’s talking about his poor form under Shakespeare at the start of last season or when Ranieri got sacked.

His agent always seemed to behave like a knob every transfer window, desperately trying to get a pay day.

He said he missed working for the club. I genuinely think this is true and would come back in some capacity in a heart beat if the club offered him a role.
