So how do we solve a problem like the first 10 minutes?

Surely it can be addressed though? It’s ludicrous that it keeps happening? The goal today was ridiculously avoidable, all Ricardo has to do it’s make a sensible pass.... most of the goals like you’ve pointed out are a result of us choking.... stupid little errors....

I mean, surely, right? But this may just be something we have to let run its course. I mean, Claude is a lot of things, but I don't think he is a bad football manager. I think that, for whatever reason, it is in their bloody heads now, and they are going to need to simply string together some good 1H's to put this behind them. I mean, even if Ricardo connects on that pass, it is dangerous with Man U having 3 men in a triangle around Mendy. Not that he couldn't have gotten it fwd, but it just feels like a situation where Ricardo was nervy and made a poor decision and then an even worse pass.

Maybe the answer is on the other half of the pitch? Maybe if our attack wasn't so comically inept, our defenders wouldn't feel under pressure from kick off to be perfect? So counter-intuitively, perhaps what we need to fix our defense is some f'ing goal scoring. I mean, we've been shut out or held to one goal in 18 of our last 21 matches. That is beyond pathetic. It wouldn't shock me if that was worst in the entire league. Almost certainly it is in the bottom 3.

Ironically I think we actually need to keep the ball.

We seem to lose possession so easily at the start of the game. Especially from kick off when we boot a long ball straight for a throw in.

Need to keep it tight early on

We cannot compare against the title winning season.

That year we were little old Leicester and all 19 teams thought they should beat us and they were all in for a shock but they didn't learn until the season after.

Now teams know not to give us space to play and we have to adapt which basically means we need better players which we can't attract or afford that's why we have to go for youth and youth is inconsistent.

Why is this so hard for our fans to accept or understand? It's not that complicated.

This is in the wrong thread isn't it?

Maybe keep the ball for the first ten minutes  but seriously we need to cut out the mistakes and the individual errors. we can't keep giving teams an early advantage!.

do more defensive drills and training make the back line work as part of a unit.

Probably need to play the percentages in the first 15, don't take risks at the back but that will probably be seen as too negative. Fact is most goals are coming from individual mistakes and every time we make one it is being punished.

I think that's a big reason. I think it's just one of those runs that will clear up on it's own, we had the same with all the red cards where people called the manager this that and the other. He was "too nice", "wasn't respected" etc etc. The run of reds just cleared up, no major change to what we were doing IMO.

Sorry if anyone mentioned already. Does zonal marking have any influence here?  I assume they aren’t given an opponent to focus on and therefore nobody is specifically watching certain players in open play. thinking he’s mine I need to mark him. Just a thought about it breeding complacency. I know Everton also deploy zonal marking and are leaking goals. Not sure if the argument stacks up wider

We need to attack from the start rather than sitting back and allowing teams to come forwards.

... exactly!

Back in the days Vardy would close down their fullbacks or keeper and Shinji would automatically follow. This tended to galvanise the midfield to push on to help with the press. Catching teams cold placed us in the acendency with the whole team becoming switched on.

When we take the kick off and play the pass to the left wing, we are actually playing for territory. Should the ball go out of play we can pin  our opposition in. If it stays in and find one of our players then we are in a good position to attack.

Vardy has been instructed not to hare around upfront, we do not press at the start and it must be quite clear by now that Vardy is the catalyst as he sets the tempo.

We need to play on the front foot with the defence pushed up to squeeze the space..

I think they are half asleep and confused after hearing about needing to have the qualitieee,  intensitee and mentalateee before each match when they walk out.

Oooooorrrr, Vardy is getting older and more injury prone and can't do what he used to be able to?

You've been misinformed, we've scored 2 or more goals in 6 matches.

My bad, thought you said this season not last 21 matches.

Tell the crowd to roar on the team?  :)

As fans, all we can do is make some noise. Maybe we can make the other team nervous too.

100% both of these comments.

If the crowd were singing and roaring away at the beginning of matches, it will inspire the players.

But all I keep hearing on TV out here are the opposition crowds singing and supporting their team, with our fans moaning and groaning from the kick off.

They only seem to wake up if we're winning. Even when we're playing well I just hear clear abuse shouted at players for 'not shooting' or 'not passing' or 'you're crap' etc, etc, etc.

Because our fans are creating a terrible atmosphere, which sounds toxic and poisonous and it MUST effect the players.

Look how the crowd helped us during our title winning season. It was our 12th man, and how!

It's having the exact reverse effect on the team now.

It's no wonder we're playing so much better away from home!

Bang on. We need to press from the start in order to generate momentum, prevent the opposition from setting the pace and taking the initiative from us.

Simple, don't let the oppo get a sniff of the ball. Keep hold of it, don't give it to them trying to hit the winger.

You say simple but most of the ground seem to moan, shout or boo when we pass it backwards.

I think they struggle to actually play a passing game until they’re in full flow. It looks like they’re forcing it in the first 20 mins but after that it flows pretty nicely.

Stop being so passive and allowing the opposition to take the initiative. Puel seems to be quite good at making adjustments but gets himself into so many situations where he has to that it's barely believable.

This was happening in pre-season as well. Seem to remember us going behind early nearly every game then as well.
