The only reason Denly was brought into the side was basically to do a job in the top three. If they're not going to use him to do that then they need to drop him.
ealingfox Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 Roy down to 4 or 5, Buttler or Denly out, Sibley in.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 I think some credit has to go to Hazlewood here, his lines have been impeccable.
The People's Hero Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 Make no mistake about it, Hazelwood is a top drawer bowler and very effective in English conditions.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 Good fightback by us, could make that toss decision look daft if we bat well after lunch.
purpleronnie Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 The second I check the cricket we lose a wicket.
Ric Flair Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 Needed a ton from Burns there really, cheap wickets. The mentality is in pieces, the only man who seems to " do that to the system " is Stokes, so let's hope he can pull off an individual score that gets us somewhere near 300.
EastAnglianFox Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 Whats going to be the minimum needed to be competitive then? 280? And how do you approach trying to win the game having lost a day?
yorkie1999 Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 They'll bowl us out for less than 200, score 400 before stumps tomorrow and bowl us out by Saturday tea. Ashes lost.

RowlattsFox Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 Think that's it for Buttler now, for time being anyway, unless he does something second innings. Curran in for him. He just looks mentally gone. Not ideal to have the Ashes straight after a successful world cup, Roy, Buttler, Root and Bairstow will remember a terrible ashes more than an memorable world cup win. In the short term anyway.

purpleronnie Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 c'mon rain. Can't ever be confident that when we lose a wicket we'll put on a good partnership, we always look like we'll lose wickets quickly. The aussies seem the opposite...but lets hope they'll bat as poorly as we have.
Crinklyfox Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 Let's not take anything away from Australia, they have bowled very well. There is some movement for the seamers and the spinner, both captains wanted to bowl first if they won the toss. Before we pass judgement on England let's see how Australia bat on it.

Think Ballance averages 40 odd at 3. While it's nothing to write home about, he has been better than the others that we've tried and dumped.
