Behave, for the last ten years he has been on or around 100k a week! That is around 50m in wages. You really think he can't afford to retire? And what court bills ?? You mean the costs of about 800k ? They probably give the kids more pocket money than that a year!

I'm pretty sure financially Jamie could have retired a few years ago and been absolutely fine.

I think you will be over estimating his net worth considerably after tax etc and amount paid out on costs etc he will not be destitute but will need a career after footy maybe in the media but a swansong in USA makes a lot of sense !

Even prime Vardy would struggle to score with the absolute dearth of creativity that we possess in midfield. Crikey, trying to get Ndidi or Soumare to pick out a slide pass inside the defender that he requires is just too much.

He’s never been a player to individually beat 2-3 defenders or more with high levels of individual skill before scoring but we’ve currently got nobody capable of finding him with a half decent pass or cross (usually a cut back required).

With the right service he’d still be capable of double figures in the Prem & significantly more in the Championship.

He’s not the problem!

Winks's pass in the match against ManU was as good as he 'd ever gotten...he failed to score from the spot from which he used to reliably put 9 out of 10 balls into the next in the years past. He's a formerly great and still a hell of a footballer at 38, but the team is sh*t.

All strikers miss the odd chance (& yes he’s missed a few good chances this season) but even the best strikers in the league would struggle to create goal scoring chances with the dreadful service that he has to endure.

he might be a problem if he is dependent on good service.

If he needs that and we dont have it then should he be playing?

granted we arent blessed in the striker department:facepalm:

This team has managed just FOUR goals in the last 14 league games.

Vardy is the captain and the attacking spearhead of the team.

Such a shameful record is primarily on him and him alone.

Not Daka.

Not Ayew.

Not Édouard.

Even Robbie Savage - captain of THAT Derby side from 2008 - feels able to look down on him.

Let that sink in. 😟😟😟

The cult worshippers (who sadly appear to include Aiyawatt and Rudkin) will have to face facts sooner or later.

The highest-paid player in our club's history is no longer fit for purpose.

Let him retire (or at least move on) at the end of the season with as much dignity as he can still muster.

Savage who is paid to wind everyone up and talks bullshit about every single top class player? Even describing himself as world class once?

Yeah of all things you could have said, I don't think that matters to anyone.

Primarily on him and him alone? The tactics, the team that's picked, the recruitment, all of this stuff is less impactful than the performances of one individual player? :S

I assume this is a wind up! Unless you expect Vardy to pick the ball up in midfield, make a slide rule pass for himself to run onto, then score. Also when necessary, to stop the opposing striker going through by playing at CB or RB and stopping any crosses coming in. I don’t think he’s tall enough for the keeper position though.

Probably only a max of 9 more games for us. Only 4 more possible home games, the latter half of which could play out with relegation already confirmed.

A sad end.

He and the club really need to (publicly) decide if he's renewing or not, in the next few weeks, so that if he isn't, we can give him the send off he deserves.

daka had an easy chance to score the other day and he chose to stare at the ground and hit it as hard as possible irrespective of where the goalie and defender were positioned. so, no...not quite.

And Vardy has missed a lot of excellent chances this year.

Agreed. The football is going to be miserable. We may as well try and celebrate the Vardy inspired great times.

They need to do a proper pre match video sharpish

The Championship is a perfect opportunity to bring a young hungry striker in with a point to prove and give him a full season run to show what he can do before (hopefully) getting promoted and being ready for the top flight.
Giving Vardy another contract and him scoring double figures is just another nail in the coffin of being able to adequately replace him when he likely retires after promotion.
Now is not the time for being sentimental, it's the time for a full squad reset, that includes the greatest striker of the modern era, the last thing we need is a striker maybe struggling to adapt and needing game time, but being starved of it because a 39 year old Vardy can still score in the championship.

We need to stop thinking short term, that's what got the club into this mess.

I think the club will go with what saves them the most money rather than future proofing. you could argue if we go straight back up you can get a more suited replacement with the funds generated.

I think the real problem is offloading Daka who couldn't score in a brothel.

I think the club goes with whatever they think deflects from the board.

Vardy will be here next year no doubt.

If we end up with a transfer embargo, Daka is our only other senior striker next season- we might need him to stick around and play a few minutes here and there. Be great to have around to mentor Evans when we start trying to phase him in too.

Like Les Ferdinand who joined us in his late 30’s he’s still quick………but he used to be lightening and could catch pigeons!
