Hodgson will be furious at the VAW tonight.

Never believed in the whole Man Utd conspiracy until watching the highlights of this.

VAR denied a clear penalty and the offside they had disallowed is a joke. Palace denied two clear goals and keeps Utd in the chase

even hodgeson saying in post match interview that if the decisions were the other way round Utd would have been awarded the goals

Robbie Savage was giving it hard to Peter Walton on BT afterwards about how it's an obvious mistake, and rightly so. The coward wouldn't admit VAR got it wrong though. Kept saying it was a foul but it wasn't a clear and obvious error.

Until VAR is a completely independent body and not associated with the current set of PL refs it'll forever be the same.

No surprise we didn’t notice our ref tonight, it was Michael Oliver. Hands down the best we have.

Helped by having Sheff U doing none of the playacting, sportsmanship crap. Just got on with the game. Easiest match for Oliver in a long time

If you didn't watch the game, just say so.....

Bit random to bring that up!

Thet offside is so petty - did the Man U players even appeal?

Just so fussy and inconsistent.

They never do .

He even said in the paper it's not there to correct clear and obvious decisions so not sure what the point of it is ?

Another thing that might help is that VAR don't have any access to the live feed, and only get referred to the incidents and replays without knowing what the ref has given. That way they can't just agree with the on-field decision, they have to give their decision blind which is then communicated to the ref.

As in they don't actually see that incident till called upon .

Who decides to involve the VAR - the on pitch ref or the VAR themselves?

Might be better to hear what is said as well like cricket and rugby .

Really hoping that Watford turn over West Ham tomorrow, both for Big Nige's sake and because it would leave West Ham desperate to get a result at Man U.

Could also do with Wolves needing something at Chelsea on the last day to guarantee EL. That would probably mean we need Palace to get some kind of result v Wolves on Sunday on the basis that we hope we can beat their nearest challengers, Tottenham, on the same day.

Or maybe I'm just driving myself mad with all of these permutations!

I don’t see how that would’ve made any difference tonight because it’s clear the referee didn’t give a penalty if they watch the incident as he didn’t blow up and stop play. How would they not see that?

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere but it stinks that Chelsea have a week off between two games. I know they'll probably lose to Liverpool but that feels incredibly fortunate at this stage of the season.

 They don’t, they just have an FA cup semi on Sunday

Liverpool have a week off they will be fresh for the Chelsea Game. Can see them hammering them if they are on it which will be good for us.

Sunday v. Spurs will be tough with a depleted squad and only 3 days turnaround (though only 4 for Spurs after a trip up to Newcastle). Hopefully the boost to morale from last night will be a big help.

But then we have a week until our final match....whereas Man Utd and Chelsea play one another on Sunday evening (FAC) - and then both play again on Wednesday (Chelsea at Anfield), 4 days before the last day.

Let's hope that plays into our hands v. Man Utd & helps Chelski to get rolled over by Wolves on the last day.

John Moss gave united 3 penalties over two games against spurs and villa, with one awful call over turned against spurs, the other awful call was not. Last nights over turned VAR  in their favour plus a penalty not given because they claim lindelof got the ball first, despite taking the attacker out completely in the process, which was game turning.

this after earlier in the season they were awarded two penalties at Norwich, one of which uniteds own manager said wasn't a penalty. they have had a record setting penalty count this year. and most over turned vars in their favour.

All could of course be coincidence, but those of us with cynical eyes will more than wonder.

Last nights pen was a bad decision but I still can’t get my head around the one they got against villa. Going forward Utd are ok but if we can get at them early and get vardy running behind Maguire we could get something from them. Would be great for a dodgy decision to go against them last game if he season to make them miss out on champs league ( I know it won’t happen)
