Maybe he'll surprise us and keep them mid-table?

Against him is the loss of Rondon and Perez and the number of goals they produced.

The fact Ashley doesn't want to pump money in means they may struggle to get recruits in, with Dwight Gayle looking like their main striker.

It's a poisoned chalice.

You are right They are not going to spend, in 12 years of Mike Ashley ownership they have a £4.6 million net spend on transfers

Trippier off to Atletico then, he was first choice for the Spuds wasn't he? Seems like an odd one.

Very odd choice for an English player to leave the PL comfort zone, but good on him personally. I think more English players should seek a move abroad.

Hope he does well down there.

They've been down to the Championship twice in the last decade, and he's stuck around.

Meant for a sustained period, or doing a Sunderland, should have mentioned that in my post to be fair.

Problem is Ashley won't sell when they are at a low point because he won't make enough money. But when they are at a high point he's asking too much for anyone to be genuinely interested.

If you see any links to the goal, pop them on.

Will do, if you want a giggle here’s the ad for tonight’s game.

Edit: that didn’t work if you get the chance search twitter for 7mate and see the ad for tonight’s game.

West Ham don’t worry me at this point. Mercenary FC.

This should really start becoming an outdated notion. Here is their potential starting XI. How many "mercenaries" in here?

Fabianski

Fredericks

Diop

Balbuena/Ogbonna

Cresswell/Masuaku

Rice

Fornals

Yarmolenko

Snodgrass/Antonio

Anderson

Haller

Well they lost Nasri and Arnautovic. So that’s a start.

They might click, fair enough if they do, but for years now they’ve been run by idiots and their transfer policy has been scattergun at best. I’ll reserve judgement on their ‘amazing’ window and won’t apologise for taking Everton (who showed serious form at the back end of last season) and Wolves more seriously.

Think it's a great move, he was being scape goated and slated at Spurs.

This gives him fresh start and new challenge abroad which may make him a better player

They have wised up for the last season and a bit. Pellegrini insisted that Mario Husillos was appointed as Director of Football - they both did a good job over their time at Malaga.

Benítez also spent a shitload on Murphy and Muto. It’s somewhat forgotten he did spend a fair bit whilst there

£10 million a piece from what I can see. If that's the case we definitely disagree on what a shitload is haha.

Fullbacks aside that's a side that will challenge for the top 6 if Fornals and Haller hit the ground running.

Looking forward to seeing more of Yarmolenko too.

Did man city buy this right back, back having sold him once. West ham have given him a torrid time.

He could be gone again at this rate lol

West ham unlucky not to have had a 2nd pen to make it 2 nil but since then and especially since half time and sterling having come on they luck like conceding everytime man city go forward.

A statement on the Championship club's official website said: “The club is disappointed to learn via public statement issued by Newcastle United that it has appointed former Sheffield Wednesday staff Steve Bruce, Steve Agnew and Steve Clemence.

“Regardless of the fact that the staff resigned from their positions with the club on Monday, there remains outstanding legal issues to be resolved between the club and the staff and Newcastle United. The club is currently considering its position and taking the appropriate legal advice.

“No further comment will be made by the club concerning this matter.”
