Guest Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 I'd like to read your answers to two questions: What is the point of your life? (Do you have a particular reason/goal). What is the point of humanity's life? (is it simply procreation).
daventry_fox Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 That first question I ask myself daily and also find myself thinking quite vividly about nooses. It's only when I think about my wife and stepson possibly finding me I snap out of it. I've been to see a Dr about it who has told me i have depression but as a whole I usually feel ok within myself. Its just these thoughts. I struggle a lot socially even commenting on here I find myself lurking rather than commenting due to shit self confidence I guess. Sorry if this goes against your post it just seemed like a good place to talk about it. It's really best not to try and think about the point of life and stuff I guess

You're anonymous on here which is a big help in coming forward
Nalis Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 Good thread. There is no actual point to my life really, I'm just enoying the ride and trying to have a good time with it whilst be respectful to others. Of course, there are various goals within my life but they change/evolve over time particularly when one goal has been met, ie, I dont have one overriding goal I solely live for.

To believe otherwise is to believe mankind is somehow different from the rest of the natural world.

Oh and wrap your tool, nobody needs herpes Straight Up, to enjoy life, enjoy the moments you have, encounter with friends and family etc. I dont have any cause other than shagging. We've won the league so my life is good. Just going to continue shagging and enjoying life whatever obstacles are tossed my way. Life flies by so fast!

(is it simply procreation). 1) Life is entirely frivolous, have a good time, don't get too down, don't stress small details because it will eventually work itself out anyway and try and help others in any small way you can 2) To leave the place we inhabit in a better condition than we found, with today's short-term mindset, we are doing a great job of failing at
leicsmac Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 Good questions, naturally. My take: - to enjoy my own time here and also to try to make it as enjoyable as possible not only for those around me but also for those who will come after me. - humanity's purpose in general; to survive, for as long as possible, all other needs are secondary because they are by definition not absolute and thereby still offer opportunities, whereas death/extinction is final, hence me not understanding why some folks do not think death to be by definition the worst case scenario. Perhaps that's a little thanatophobic of me, but hey. The entire ethos of humanity should be driven with that in mind.

Barrowblue Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 There is no point to life, it's meaningless. Doesn't mean we can't enjoy it, it just means we shouldn't waste our time searching for the point in our existence. Because there isn't one. I have a concerning & bleak view on the existence of humanity unfortunately, and I haven't heard any good counter arguments to make me think otherwise. I believe the human race is a cancer on the face of the earth.

winteriscoming Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 Good question. I go through the same cycle week in week out. Asking myself what’s the point at the start of the week. Getting pissed off with work and wondering why bother. Then end of the week Friday and Saturday night get drunk and enjoy being out. Recover Sunday and before I know it Monday morning has arrived and the cycle starts again. Also helps in between this if Leicester win.
yorkie1999 Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 The point of my life is to earn enough money to keep my mrs in the manner she’s become acustomed to. the point of humanity is to evolve into a species that lies on a beach all day listening to Spotify and eating ice cream. dogs have got it right, always happy that they’ve woken up the next day so they can sleep for 22 hours of it.
whoareyaaa Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 the point of my life is to eat enough food and drink enough water so I don't drop dead, anything goes after that. the point of humanity is probably just a big scientific experiment by an advanced race that we can't comprehend which is why everything has genetics and what not which is probably at its point of regressing due to reaching maximum evolution other than that just enjoy it while you can
DennisNedry Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 I think all we can do as humans is try and enjoy our lives as much as we can, while not acting in a way that stops others enjoying their lives. There is no why. We just are. Some seeking meaning in religion, but there's no true answers there. Some find the lack of meaning bleak, but that's just how it is.
Milo Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 Good question. Its about contributing, about giving, about learning and teaching. It’s about loving and about nothing. Head over to Cicero’s Tusculanem Disputations for a little light relief on the subject. He doesn’t specifically say that it is about one day seeing Wes hold aloft a trophy of such magnificence and wonderment to make grown men weep, but reading between the lines I think that’s kind of what he meant.
Swarles Barkley Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 Its an interesting concept. i often wondered that if I died tomorrow it would not make a jot of difference in the long run. That there is literally no point to life and if there is a point in hanging around when everyday you see what a piece of shit humanity is. but then I thought i’m somewhat content there isnt a point to my existence. The last thing I want would be this additional pressure that I had to achieve something. The stress of meeting some goal before I die. Constantly worrying if this life goal has already been met and if so is that it for me It weirdly soothed me that my existence is pointless. Anyway thats my take on it.
murphy Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 I think that we all want to leave a legacy. Some kind of achievement that helps our improve own little corner of the world. God knows what it is for me though. I'm 46 and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
VLC86 Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 Apologies to anyone who came in here not wanting to slit their wrists.
Stadt Posted 2 May 2019 Posted 2 May 2019 I got a call from my mum earlier telling me that my nana has a minimum of 6 months to live (but it doesn't sound good after that) after a long line of complications and she's got cancer once more, she's had a personal hell for a few years now after she's spent months and months at a time in hospital. I think in this recent spell she's spent about a year being moved between the royal and the general. My mum said that after the news today that my nana has looked the best she has in years, it's a perverse and cruel existence we live at times and all I can think of at this time is the unconditional love that my grandparents have given to me as a small child and they holidays that they took me on. I've got a uni assignment due in tomorrow that I left too late but I could have got done in time ordinarily, not that that it matters but I feel worn out and stressed now. Cherish every moment with your loved ones.

We are just an organism, we have no free will, our basic imprint is to ensure our existence as an organism.
