HighPeakFox Posted 9 May 2019 Posted 9 May 2019 1 minute ago, Bluebeemer said: Eighth place in the PL may still get into Europe. There can be a max if 5 eng clubs in UCL and 3 in the UEL. So if the top 5 finish as they are and Man City win the FA Cup then the top 4 will qualify for UCL as Liverpool or Spurs will go through as winners and their place will go to the club finishing 5. This means the next 3 places 6,7,8 go into UEL with the 8 having to go through qualifying. So beat Chelsea and hope Spurs beat Everton and we finish Eighth which would means qualifier round of UEL. I believe it is a maximum of 7, whatever the weather. Either a 4/3 split or 5/2 split, as will now be the case. This has been done to death on here, and if you look, you'll perhaps notice a thread that got started on the very subject & got closed down almost straight away. I'm trying to be nice about it, because there will be plenty of others who most likely won't be. 1

HybridFox Posted 9 May 2019 Posted 9 May 2019 Extra time please! Have them off the pace while Vardy blitzes past them on Sunday
Gerard Posted 9 May 2019 Posted 9 May 2019 Nice. Maybe it's best if they lose as they'll be tired and deflated.

FoyleFox Posted 9 May 2019 Posted 9 May 2019 (edited) Extra time and penalties, one eye on the final. Fabulous..... in my rational mind. Oh no, we'll definitely not win.... in my LCFC mind. Edited 9 May 2019 by FoyleFox
copunk Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 Chelsea also have a trip to the states after this game for a friendly which is is for charity but extremely odd, nothing to play for so i can see them resting alot of the 1st team and putting out bench players, drinkwater may even get in their squad, big chance for us to grab a win and end on a high, full of confidence going into next season
rachhere Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 Can I just make a point that I think we would have had a good chance of winning this even without their Europa distractions and not having anything to play for. They were hardly convincing last night and we have been performing so much better than them the past few weeks. looking forward to finishing the season in style! 4
fazzyfox Posted 10 May 2019 Posted 10 May 2019 A potential scenario - We're 2-0 up, Vardy has scored one of them taking him to 19 goals, Shinji is on as a sub, we win a late Pen:- Who do you want to take it? Wouldn't it be great if Vardy handed the ball over to Shinji as a thanks for all those assists and the general smiley / buzzy / slippy things he's done for us?

Is it wrong that my first thought was ‘bet he still misses’. Love the guy though. Hopefully will find his shooting boots again soon.

Quite strangely, they're playing in America in a friendly next Wednesday for an 'anti-discrimination awareness campaign' match. So doubt they'll play at top-gear and will try and keep it tight. Hazard is very much bound to leave after the all-season speculation about him, so he'll probably be eager to impress more than he already has done in plenty of other games.

If we're 2-0 up late in the game I'd like to think Rodgers would let Simpson have a run out (along with Okazaki), and as of yet he's never scored for us. Would be great to see him get one at last in his send-off game. 1
