whoareyaaa Posted 17 October 2021 Posted 17 October 2021 Was great yesterday maybe playing him as a 10 is the way forward, hopefully he can kick on from here.

It has always been suggested that you'll get the best out of him in a central role. He does have an eye for a pass and he's not that bad with the ball at his feet - problem is, his brain lags behind by five seconds.

Switzfox Posted 17 October 2021 Posted 17 October 2021 Let's give the guy credit where it's due. Well play yesterday Ayoze. There were still some knobs booing when he came on. Let's not do that. Get behind him. He is obviously a frustrating player but he does work hard and has creativity in his locker. Decent with ball at his feet. 1

fox_up_north Posted 17 October 2021 Posted 17 October 2021 I've always felt he's an "attack from the front" player. I have never been disappointed with his work rate or pressing. I actually feel he's probably better just doing that, where he doesn't have time to think and just goes through a process of press, press, win loose ball, pass quickly 4

Popular Post Leicester_Loyal Posted 17 October 2021 Popular Post Posted 17 October 2021 People booing him when he was being subbed on FFS, I'm one of his biggest critics but come on, no need for that. Changed the game around, we might have only got a point or less if he hadn't have come on, fantastic cameo, hats off to him. 6
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 17 October 2021 Posted 17 October 2021 (edited) Sadly the club attracts some bell end fans. Thoroughly embarrassing to hear the moronic boos I'm not his biggest fan but would never boo. When on form he can bring a massive amount to games and obviously plays better in his chosen role, not a winger.Always puts a shift in. Great contribution yesterday Edited 17 October 2021 by Bob Hazels shorts

He is absolutely best as a no 10. When we signed him I expected him to be that snap-at-heels Okazaki replacement - not necessarily in the goals all the time, but with the work rate to free up Vardy (or whoever else is ahead of him) to cause damage, while popping up with the odd goal himself. Yesterday he did that job admirably. Arguably his best game for us bar the 0-9, but considering someone slid the FIFA difficulty sliders down to beginner mode that day, probably his #1 performance on merit and circumstance. He's not a winger. We should just make that clear now. He transforms into a languid ghost of a player when he spends the game out wide, and he's too sluggish to track back properly which leaves us exposed. But he's decent with feet and, when given license to 'get into 'em', I think he's far less powderpuff than people think. He will put his body on the line if needed in that role - look back to him turning over possession for Youri's FA Cup winner for a good example. Put him central and he's a different player. The only issue is - we have two other players who play that #10 role better in Iheanacho and (when in form) Maddison. It's nice to have options, I just don't want us to start shoehorning Perez back into the squad out wide and damaging our shape and workrate in the process. If he's happy to be an impact sub as a #10, he is going to win a lot of people over with performances like yesterday. Edited 17 October 2021 by OntarioFox 2

Perez was exactly like this at Newcastle, exciting young prospect bought for pennies under Pardew and stagnated under Rafa. My mates a life long Toon fan. Firstly he laughed at the transfer fee and then his summary was he'll have you banging your head against a wall! 3 weeks he will look superb and then vanish for the next 3, so he was pretty much spot on. I suspect our scouting signed him to get that consistently out of him, which is hopefully coming now.. clearly a very talented player although certainly won't help if we boo him unless we think that's what turned Kelechis form around!! Long may this run continue, I'm a fan if his contributions and when on form he's a cracking player. "Stagnated under Rafa?".... He had his 3 best goalscoring seasons under Rafa, and was scoring 1 in 3 in the league the season before we signed him. A player in his position scoring 1 in 3 in the PL, is effectively a £30 million player, the problem is, he has actually "Stagnated under Rodgers" and Brendan has yet to get the best out of him. Whereas Gray seems to have been turned into a £30 million player under Benitez. 1
NasPb Posted 17 October 2021 Posted 17 October 2021 tbh he always has been to me a okazaki mark ii... his injuries and poor form last year swayed that but hes a more technically gifted okazaki when hes at his best. hell of a player to have on his best days.... especially as a squad player and a cam and cf. just needs to consistency, which is the hard part for him
Unabomber Posted 17 October 2021 Posted 17 October 2021 Gave him a massive boo as he came on but tbf he did well for once 1

He did well yday when he can on but he’s not a hell of a player. For 30 million he’s at best am ok squad player. He shouldn’t be starting and shouldn’t be put out wide again. He’s clearly beat as a 10 and needs to be a impact sub.
fox_up_north Posted 17 October 2021 Posted 17 October 2021 If we go 1 up top, can he work behind the main striker? I'm thinking more long term, with Youri off then that might push Madders back down the pitch and stop this "central players out wide" nonsense. 1

If Ronaldo did that all of the media would be raving about it The sound of lips smacking on ring-pieces would have been epic. The vision and patience to pick out Vardy with the outside of the boot was sublime, only equaled by the quality of the finish. Ayoze does have a great short passing game on his day, he often tries to link up, look for 1-2's and I think players around him respond to that. Madders could sometimes do the same, rather than the hollywood stuff, and he would be a better player for it.
Stadt Posted 17 October 2021 Posted 17 October 2021 More assists yesterday than the whole of last season 1 2
