HighPeakFox Posted 15 March 2022 Posted 15 March 2022 But doesn't he have some contract that guarantees x number of starts? I think his current exclusion rather denies that rumour. 1

FOXSE Posted 15 March 2022 Posted 15 March 2022 A newly promoted team would benefit from perez. He Would pretty much be their best player and a chance he would keep them up... like scoring the winner home and away against us, that's 6 points towards safety right there! 1

I couldn't imagine him playing for either of them, especially Brighton. Newly promoted team might take him. "experienced" premier league player who's played in europe. You just have to sell the reputation and ignore the horrific footballer it's attached to.

Schlupp was on newly promoted Championship wages. He’ll be on average or below average of typical Palace wages. Perez was a marquee signing and will likely be one of our top paid players. I doubt the likes of Leeds or Brighton would want to stump up £15mil plus make Perez one of their top earners when there’s so much better value out there.

Cost us Champions League football. I don't think a draw would've been enough as Chelsea had a better goal difference . So it didn't really cost the champions league 1

He really is so poor I don't think either of those would be remotely interest. If he couldn't score or assist in a previously flying Leicester City side, how's he going to make an impact at either of those clubs? Possibly football in a different country may suit but they're not going to pay 10-15m and pay extortionate wages. He's a lost cause and always has been. One half decent season out of 4 at Newcastle made him a ridiculous signing.
Supergray22 Posted 15 March 2022 Posted 15 March 2022 He is a good technical player willing to put in a shift but he doesn’t excel in any areas not strong or brave enough. Not quick or athletic enough. Doesn’t shine in any position. Perhaps we just haven’t found his niche but he has had chances. Those party escapades and now even Brendan has lost faith. I doubt we will get £15m for him. Take the loss and move on. Make space for someone more deserving.

Blaming Perez for missing CL is silly thing to say I mean whoever made this signing should never be part of football He was playing with another striker in Newcastle and we made him a winger here(1-2 games as second striker and number 10 does not count) braindead 1

I wonder if Newcastle would take him back for a decent fee? - highly unlikely now Benitez isn't there....and I doubt he would fit in to the Eddie Howe set up there with flair players like St Maximin, Trippier, etc in situ. there now.

Yes, I'd be surprised if he was kept on after the summer. Players like Slimani hardly featured under Rodgers while still on our books and he was soon off to pastures new so I'd imagine the same thing happening to Perez at the end of the seaon.....

If we're selling players who cost us points in the last 5 games last season we wouldn't have many left. Kasper punching the ball into his own net with 12 mins to go against Spurs, Fofana giving an awful penalty away against Chelsea, Vardy missing a sitter against Southampton away, the whole team being totally shit against Newcastle etc etc. 4
phoneticerror Posted 15 March 2022 Posted 15 March 2022 Poor Perez. Yes, he’s not the best, but he did play a part in setting up Youri’s goal in the FA Cup final. Absolute luck if you ask me and he fell over in the process, but let’s at least give him that. 😂😂 He stopped James’ ball, fell over, the ball landed at Thomas’ feet and it was delivered to Youri for the wonderstrike. So if you think about it, if it wasn’t for Perez, we’d probably have lost in penalties. 1

Take 2 points off them and add 1 for us we'd of been 2 clear of them, but would they have played as badly as they did against Villa had that hypothetical goal have been scored?

Guest nathan. Posted 15 March 2022 Posted 15 March 2022 Always thought he was average at Newcastle. I couldn't believe we gave £30M for him

For all his limitations, he does try to press, and his impressive turnover stats were reported as being a factor in his purchase. I think he might of been fortunate on the day, but the more you press the luckier you get, and he deserves some credit for the hard work if nothing else. He could do with moving on, as he is a squad player for us, and we have all seen enough. I'd rather have someone up and coming in that role. 1
Cincinnati Fox Posted 15 March 2022 Posted 15 March 2022 I just can’t image the discussion and agreement to pay 30 Million for him. Madness! And worrying

Guest nathan. Posted 15 March 2022 Posted 15 March 2022 Perez is a decent 10 and certainly not a winger. He just doesn't fit.

There were a lot of rumours previously that the actual fee was 16 million which could increase to 30 million due to add ons so it would kind of make sense. Then up to 14 million if for 10 minutes off the bench? Why put him on the bench, it would be an expensive brain fart. Brendan enjoys tormenting Top or thinking oh his 1st years wages at Newcastle paid for in one?
