StanSP Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 Lovely nutmeg from Albrighton. Youri is running things now. Sexy football!
tylesta Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 Heard people shout for him to play up front as he is not a winger, today he as been awful (he will score now) Seen someone post that behind the striker. He loses the ball to easy and looks like he moves in slow motion just dont think he fits with us.
volpeazzurro Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 His running at defenders has been more Julian Clary than Julian Joachim! 2

He can be a good link and likes to play the little 1-2s which he doesn't get to do up front on his own.

lcfc_forever Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 There you go! Even without the goal, his join-up play has been sound. 3 1

Claridge Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 He has played well, technically excellent, just needs to be a bit more aggressive, like he was for Newcastle against us. 2
Blanchflower78 Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 Hes a second striker not a lone, looks better through middle 2
M0901 Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 He’s not a wide man, he’s not a number 9, he’s a number 10, simple. 1
Tielemans63 Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 Lovely finish this afternoon. Took it nicely.
Ric Flair Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 I wanted to see him in an interchangeable front 3 like Liverpool play, certainly needs some work. He is a support striker, its quite clear. 1
HybridFox Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 Thought his link up play was pretty good today. Not sure where the complaints are. Took his goal well 2
Popular Post foxfanazer Posted 9 January 2021 Popular Post Posted 9 January 2021 Despite things not quite going his way for the majority today he kept plugging away and getting into positions and was rewarded with his goal 8

Took his goal well I don't think this is a complaint (well, it shouldn't be taken as one) but in the first half he would come deep a lot, probably just to get a feel of the ball. Like Kelechi does. They feel the need to want the ball and while there probably isn't much wrong with that, it doesn't help when we want to attack at pace or move the ball up the pitch and have someone on the end of chances quickly. It's why Vardy is so good at what he does (and not just for his goals). Seeing Perez and Iheanacho try and play as lone strikers, for me, just emphasises how good Vardy is on and off the ball. Vardy makes intelligent runs and is all in the timing. For Perez and Iheanacho, they're not used to being a lone striker, and it shows when they play. If they have the support of a striker in front of them, you do see their quality a bit more. I think in the 2nd half Perez must have been told to just stay forward a bit more often and not come looking for the ball. That might coincide with seeing Youri flourish a bit more in both halves of the pitch, as well as a tiring Stoke side. He had much more space in the game to work with and with a player of his quality, it really shows. It also meant Perez was able to be in the right place to pick up the pass from Castagne for his goal, instead of being further behind the play. 2

RowlattsFox Posted 9 January 2021 Posted 9 January 2021 Good to get his goal and some nice play in midfield. Clear as day he shouldn't play on his own against anyone decent. Might be a decent option at home in games we've struggled against a deep line. Never known him to be a slow player but was quite highlighted today. Also never seen a player look less likely to take a player on when running with the ball but does add something to us.
