Kelechi Iheanacho

I’m not sure it’s feasible because too many players would miss out if we played with Vardy and Iheanacho over the course of a season - but, if Iheanacho started 35 games a season I reckon he’d easily get 20+ goal contributions.

I think we could try a very lopsided 4231 with Iheanacho on the right (as somebody else mentioned). Especially when Ricardo is fully fit again and Ndidi covering.

So in possession we’d look a bit like -

                 Vardy

Barnes          Iheanacho

               Maddison      Pereira

      Tielemans

 TC/JJ                 Ndidi

          JE/CS Fofana

It’s worth trying it I think

Purl already tried this, it wasn't great. Of course Puel didn't have Tielemans or Barnes at his disposal.

I think as Vardy’s career goes on it looks like he’s gonna have to go back to what he was under Pearson for Ulloa and Nugent at times - the nuisance supporting act.

Causing havoc in the half spaces and opening up spaces for others through the middle, much like what we saw on Sunday. Was like the Vardy of 2014 when he was on top form.

Iheanacho’s the perfect type of player to benefit from this because he’s an out and out goalscorer, whilst then you still have the option of Barnes being wide and Vardy through the middle depending on opposition. It’s good to now feel like we have options in an attacking sense.

Completely agree

However, Vardy still has goals in him too

He’s getting into the right positions but doesn’t look as confident in front of goal. He needs to score a couple and he’ll score more again I reckon

Surprised you got away with stating that when it comes to Vardy!! lol Thought you would get total pelters!

I agree, his value will not decrease by this, it may in fact increase as he gives even more for the team. Sure, goals will still come, they will perhaps be less frequent as both the club and Jamie himself, look to elongate his career.

Unsure if Jamie will be totally ok with not being the main goal scorer, but he is such a "for the cause" sort of guy, I suspect he may

Been a fan of Kelechi since he was at Man City. Some players even when they are a bit raw you can see they have something about them - the natural instincts, the quick thinking, the football brain and the vision that are hard to teach. He showed that at Man City. I have always wanted him to do well here and I thought in the limited and irregular game time he had he did well, and never understood the criticism he got here and also didn’t understand why Rodgers would always drop him or sub him even after he scores or have done well, so I don’t think he has been managed well. He has also been asked to play in a role (lone striker role) that does not suit him. He is a team player and he links up well - he can almost play as a No. 10. He is a great finisher. Clearly he is a humble and respectful guy who is popular and has been willing to wait for his time while getting dropped often.

I think Pep rates him a lot which is why they had a buyback clause. Pep also had positive comments about him - Pep is someone who has a good eye for talent.

I just hope he is allowed to have a bigger role in the team.

I can see Maguire literally turning into a pretzel trying to contain Vardy and Nacho. It could be a joy to behold.

He’s got sensational composure. The goal he scored against Everton last season and Brighton away this season were impressive in the way that he just doesn’t seem to give a shit, really stoic finisher.

When he's confident.

When he isn't confident, he's got the composure of an angry Karen when her McDonald's order's wrong.

It’s surprising he’s ever had any confidence at all here when he’s never been trusted to start 10 consecutive games. Still, he’s scored some goals I don’t think many players do.

Isn’t that the case with almost any striker?

I think it's much, much more severe with Iheanacho than any other player I can remember seeing. He's one of the ultimate "confidence" players. He seems to have much more drastic peaks and troughs in self esteem than anyone else.

We've absolutely, by no means, helped that though with how he's been managed at the club.

Very true.

I do think that sometimes our fans can be accused of hyperbole when it comes to rating our players performances but Kelechi genuinely has ebbed between sublime and shite during his time here, and as you say, confidence seemingly being the main factor in that.

Pretty much identical to what my wife says to me.

I think you are right. Their CBs are weak points in the Man Utd team. They deal with headers and crosses well but they can be exploited through the center and via throughballs. We just need to work out how to engage Ricardo and Castagne better on the wings so that we can stretch their defence a bit to help Vardy, Perez and Nacho in the middle. We got away with it against Sheffield but Man Utd are a totally different proposition.

If you'd read the entire thread you'd see i conceded i didn't realise the buy back was so big.

If I'd read the entire thread I'd have got nothing else done that day, it's 86 pages
