They will look to the flanks for overloads, and we won't need 4 in midfield to win that battle. It would be harsh on Nacho but I'd go back to Perez and Barnes and maybe play Praet instead of Youri, Nacho can torment Everton again midweek, while Vardy puts his feet up. Whatever formation we play we should have enough to beat Norwich. I was thinking about this last night, I feel the only way we will trip ourselves up at the minute is by getting complacent. It would be easy to stick with the same personnel on Saturday and the same system but baring in mind how meticulous Rodgers and his staff are game by game i'm sure they know the pitfalls of the diamond. I don't think we are anywhere near as solid in that system yet and it's a huge risk to deploy it, Norwich probably wouldn't cause us as many problems as battles to come but either way is it necessary? I think Barnes and Gray will come in for Praet and Iheanacho but I do wonder if Iheanacho could be deployed in the Perez role?

I think your right we will probably go back to the 4-1-4-1 bench Nacho and then go the same team we played at Villa against Man City
Xen Posted 10 December 2019 Posted 10 December 2019 I think the standard 4-1-4-1 is our best approach for this one, and I think we'll see a pretty typical line-up, save for that midfield 4 where a few might get rested. I'd start Maddison regardless, especially against his old club. After that, though, any of our usual starters and all of our bench players seem to be in a similar sort of form. Youri is excellent but looks a little tired, so we could start Praet in his place, and Perez/Gray/Iheanacho/Barnes all look capable of playing well on either wing (I'd like to see how Barnes links up with Pereira on the right, personally), and they're all capable of playing more centrally if we need to switch things up. Even Albrighton can do a job, although at this point I think he's best off the bench to keep the tempo up late-game.
squarez Posted 10 December 2019 Posted 10 December 2019 Guarantee Maddison scores the winner and has to pretend not to be buzzing to satisfy the "Not a [x] fan but respect 👏👏👏" crowd.

Whether they park the bus, flood the midfield or try and take the game to us we have shown that we can we have the tactical nonce to pick a side and system to prevail against any style. Rodgers and his team obviously analyse each opponents strengths and weaknesses and plan accordingly. If its not going to plan, they are not afraid to change things around during the game either. Any game against a side potentially fighting for their survival, even at this early stage is always a potential banana skin, but we have been so ruthless and professional this season that I just cannot see us not getting the three points here. If we get an early goal I suspect that they will fold and we will increase our GD by another significant margin.
hackenbacker Posted 10 December 2019 Posted 10 December 2019 a positive omen..... this morning on BeIN sports (in Qatar) they had a reply of Leicester v Norwich in our championship wining season..... 1-0 to the mighty foxes. Ulloa off the bench to score in the 89th minute ... and the KP goes crazy
ScubaBlue Posted 10 December 2019 Posted 10 December 2019 I only have one real fear about this game. That Norwich are too much of a nice, friendly family club... therefore, we'll hear no chants of "Jamie Vardy, your wife is a ****!" to spur him on to 9 in 9! It's a real concern.

I'm living in Norfolk and I don't think that news has reached here yet

I think you need to start spreading the word!

UPinCarolina Posted 10 December 2019 Posted 10 December 2019 Banana peel sort of fixture, if we’re not focused. This Norwich like to show up against the big clubs, it seems.

StanSP Posted 10 December 2019 Author Posted 10 December 2019 Andy Madley the ref (brother of Bobby Madley who we've had terrible decisions with). Mike Dean on VAR.
foxfanazer Posted 10 December 2019 Posted 10 December 2019 As fans it's always good to be a little bit cautious but we're massive favourites for this. I thought we'd draw against Villa and in the end we could've 8 goals with a bit more of a clinical edge. I trust us to go out against Norwich and get the job done in style. I'm more nervous about Vardy not getting on the scoresheet than I am about losing
Wakeyfox Posted 10 December 2019 Posted 10 December 2019 In seasons gone by I would have been concerned that we might slip up in a game like this. Now I have 100% confidence that brendan will get the team selsction and tactics spot on, making any changes to positively impact the game wherever required. I don't think I've ever felt this way before...

Tbh I suspect they're confused that the Vardys aren't related.

However, after we'd beaten Southampton a record breaking 9-0, I remember BR pointing out that there was a period of play (20 mins I think), where we could have been more clinical and focused. One thing I think BR has brought us, is a big club mentality. At the forefront of that is being focused and ruthless, no matter who we're playing. I can't see anything but a professional win again!

Other teams fans are running scared of us and know what we can do to them, unlike it seems most of the "big team" sycophant pundits. You have to admire the fatalism (or is it realism) and begrudging respect of these when compared to the entitlement of the likes of red café and fighting cock posters
8starstriker8 Posted 10 December 2019 Posted 10 December 2019 Is it too early to restart the teams that can’t catch us yet thread?
