Where we will finish this season

A few weeks ago, I thought that the wheels would really need to come off to be caught by anyone bar Chelsea.  12 points in 12 games, no goals in three games  suggests that this is happening.  If we continue this form we will be caught by all of the chasing pack - Chelsea, Spurs, Sheff Utd, Man U and possibly even Wolves and Arsenal.

 

I think that a period of 12 games is more than just a bad run, a lot of players are out of form and it's hard to see a way out of this rut.  I think we will end up in the 6th to 8th positions now.

We need 5 wins from somewhere,  6 ideally and a couple of draws.   Probably means we'll end up with 4 and a few draws and miss out.

Further concerns are it's not just how or where we finish this season, but finishing a season in such a disappointing, lacklustre way (Even if we do finish in the top 4) could have an knock on effect on how we start next season.

 

Alot can be said for finishing a season poorly or strongly either way.

I need to see us actually win a game in the next week or two to consider we will finish in the top 6, let alone the top 4.

Even if we didn’t,we can’t say it’s been a crap season.It will still be the best PL finish so far,which shows the club is moving in the right direction.COYB

For Spurs to finish on 66pts they'd need 26pts from a possible 33.

 

For  Wolves to finish on 66pts they'd need 27pts from a possible 33.

 

Neither are going to happen let alone both.

Yeah I stated as much in my original post. Utd will accumulate more points than that too. I did it 3 weeks ago. Point is, we can definitely let all this slip.

If we dont finish in the champions league spots I'd rather finish 8th. We need a Europa league spot like a hole in the head. That competition is a complete waste of everyone's time and should be scrapped.

It's just crap extra games on a Thursday, Saturday games all moved. Horrible pointless competition.

 

We have to spend money to strengthen the squad but the money received from Europa league is minimal.

I think we need to spend to strengthen anyway. Regardless of being in European competition or not.

Fair enough, honestly think low 60s will be enough to do it and on current (awful) form we'll get 60. Can let it slip but dont think we will in my view, I gues everyone's take on it is different as we've seen from posts on this forum over the last few days.

Same sort of game as against Norwich, a team that desperately need the points who will turn up with fight. Couldn’t beat them in the cup over 2 games and need a bigger performance in this game.
