Philippe Coutinho to Leicester whispers

2 wrongs don’t make a right.

It would if he meant the difference between Europa League or Champions Leugue the year after next. We could easily spend £25mil each on a couple of players that aren't accustomed to the Premier League, who fail, like Slimani and Silva. To me a payer of Coutinho's ability is a rare. I hope we might be tempted to take the gamble.

Do Barce need a left back? Tell them Chilwell is really good like the media say he is and see if Barce will do a swap deal for Coutinho. They reckon Chilwell is worth £60m so I reckon it would be a fair deal 😂

Would the club be considering possible fan base in asia, making a marquee signing like this attract? Still £27m is a hell of a lot to recoup unless the loan fee was knocked off the signing fee with the option to buy

£27m but champions League and the draw of other quality players with a signing that shows our intent. If it get us Top 4 with his quality on the ball, Vardy will have a field day, then the 27 mill is more than paid off. Especially if we've encouraged some other top quality players to sign permanently.

Coutinho, Maddison and N'Didi would be an absolute top class midfield, it would give Madders the freedom to push on too.

If we don't get Top 4 you'll have Rodgers roasted on the spit. Not a pretty sight.... for some.

You've lost your minds. 18 million just for the loan fee! We could sign a great player on a permanent fee for that much money. To what purpose would we spend that money? He would absolutely not guarantee CL football by any stretch of the imagination. He is a very limited player positionally. Makes no sense.

Who? For 18 million who is about that would add his quality?

Why is this even being discussed? Less chance of 4th and CL season after next, due to Europa league, and lack of depth. No money from owners due to Covid. Why would he even consider moving to City ? Business head says buy a decent youngster who could have resale value. Time to move on Foxes.

18mil for a single year with zero chance of recouping any of that investment, though.

To pluck a random name out, suppose we signed someone like Bailey for 40m instead. He'd be with us for 3-4 years (costing ~60m total incl. wages, so 15m per year) and we'd be able to sell him on afterwards for a similar fee to what we bought him for.

Given that the loan fee + wages of PC would be almost double that for a single year we'd be far better off by going for a pair of very good permanent signings rather than waste it on a short term deal.

I’d love Bailey but would he come? I think after the last 4 months we are in desperate need of experience. We have a lot of exiting young lads and a few on the over end of the scale. We lack those experienced pro’s who have experienced competition’s across Europe.

What if we pay the 27m and he gets injured in the first 2 or 3 games? Some of you are losing your minds wanting to sign himlol

You run that risk with any player, We've wasted big money on Musa, Slimani and Silva.... If you want top players with top European experience you pay the money. And anyway, he would probably cost in excess of £50m to buy, so a loan deal costing £27m would be a decent bit of business, especially if he helps to achieve something. Brendan has worked with him before, his career has stuttered a little since leaving Liverpool, and he is undeniably class.... if the club can afford him then happy days, if not then they wont even consider it... So there is no need to get upset by it.

But other players we'll have on 4 or 5 year deals, so can still make use of them after the injury has healed (unless it's obviously a career ending one). With this if he got injured for even 8-10 weeks we'd have lost him for a third of the season, costing us 9m in that time.

It won't happen anyway, but yeah.
