At least you could still go to the pub in WWI and WWII.

I’d rather be fighting a war then this pandemic rubbish. A war gives you purpose and is kind of exciting.

Telling private companies they can't export their products and fulfil agreed contracts should go down well.

Absolute mess.

Don't know why they're moaning. So far we have vaccinated 53%, or 28.5 million people, the EU have vaccinated 11%, or 49 million people, so the reality is they've vaccinated almost 20 million more people. Would it not be in the UK's interests to build a big manufacturing facility and make all our own vaccines. People would say that it would take too much time, but i bet it wouldn't.

What should happen to a prominent medical professional, who has played a large role in public messaging throughout the pandemic, who claimed that large events were safe, that testing was not an appropriate intervention and that face masks increase the chance of getting infected.

That's right, they should be promoted. Well done Jenny Harries, being a government mouthpiece has paid off.

I know it isn't a major step really but the dropping of the stay at home message next week feels positive. Can go further without potentially being questioned. Hopefully back with the 7-a-side next Thursday.

Things are slowly moving in the right direction.

It's funny how I can on Monday, grapple loads of men, women and kids for sport from Monday, but can't sit in a beer garden with plastic separating me from anyone else.

Why are they allowing no social distancing in gyms now then? I.E. Grappling/Jits is allowed or whatever?

Not really. Because the pub has to have toilets available by law and you'll be under the influence when social distancing goes a bit awry.

The rules regards sport are no changing rooms and the toilets are allowed open for a select period of time.

We had the same debate before about pubs.

What do you mean so ****ing what?

That or something similar is what life is all about for everyday average people in this country.

If all the most vulnerable people are vaccinated why shouldn’t we see friends or family again. Otherwise what’s even the point of the ****ing vaccines?

Also, you don’t get banned from social interaction during a war. Stupid comparison.

You generally stay at home though don't you? You ain't popping for a cuppa with the risk of a missile or drone attack

What i'm a bit bothered about is just how long the vaccine actually lasts for because searching around online, no-one actually knows. Hancock suggesting we may need vaccinating every 6 months, scientists suggesting it may last 2 years, but  however long it lasts, we could end up with a situation where the first people to have received it may no longer be safe by the time the people in the no so at risk categories receive it and the possibility of the vaccine no longer being useful against a developing virus, which is going to lead to a permanent lockdown, or at least, permanent restrictions on who you can and who you can't socialise with. If it only lasts 6 months, old Margaret Keenan will be due for here 3rd jab in about 9 weeks!

Is that what you really do for "sport". Are you oiled up, wearing only a loincloth for this?

'Boris Johnson says pubs could bar people who are not vaccinated'

It's so obvious we're gonna end up with some businesses not allowing entry to those who haven't had the vaccine. However, I don't think many will implement it, as they'll need the money after a hard 15 months, plus they'll need extra staff to police it etc.

'Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi addressed the reports that vaccine passports may be required to gain entry to places such as pubs and restaurants.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Mr Zahawi ruled out the idea of using vaccine passports for the UK's domestic economy.

Speaking to Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway, Mr Zahawi said the focus should be on vaccinating as many adults as possible.'

The jabs can be reprogrammed for new mutations within weeks or so the big heads reckon. So that shouldn't be a problem. How long they last is the real issue, though I suppose when supply is greater than demand we'd be able to roll them out at a couple million a day or more. A month to revaccinate the country isn't all that bad. Plus, after the original 2 doses (or even the 1 of that other single dose type) we'd just need a booster.

Not quite at panic stations yet imo.

Hopefully that will happen over the coming months. To reiterate; we don't know how long vaccination can maintain immunity, we don't know whether those that have had the virus can get re-infected, we don't know the extent that it prevents transmission and virologists are currently very concerned about the Brazilian variants which are highly contagious and much more dangerous.

Sure about that are you? There were plenty of social restrictions and curfews - and actually, my Father was an evacuee from London - went to live with a family in Andover.

Clearly my point sailed over your head, or was obscured by the red mist. I was referring to the suffering and sacrifices made by the British public during war time. The families ripped apart, the state rationing, the austerity and the terror...meanwhile there are people on here complaining that they can't go to the ****ing pub.

Many of our city centre pubs might look at this as an opportunity to drag more folk in. Especially Sunday to Thursday when pre covid no f##ker went in anyway 😄
