Famous People Who You've Changed Your Opinion On

I had a feeling this thread might have been inspired by Marcus Rashford, but sorta confused at what he has done in the past for anybody to form a negative opinion on him to have their mind changed today?

Just listened to the Deeney interview. I do love a bit of Louis Theroux anyway, so really enjoyed it. Could have listened to them talk for much longer, very good stuff

Gary Lineker. 

 

Always comes across as the nice guy. I've had the pleasure of meeting him twice now. Blokes a ****ing bellend. 

 

Ian Wright - Never had a bad word against him but upon meeting him he's a top bloke. Biggest kid going ever too, we were playing football in a group and he runs in takes the ball dribbles it off and started saying chase me chase me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 

 

Ledley King absolute gentleman too. 

 

Met all three of the above at one event the year we won the League and I done some interviews for Sky Sports. 

 

Gary Neville - hated him as a player but with him moving to the Pundit role then actually meeting him in Guimares last year at the Nations League he changed my opinion on him massively.

 

Jermaine Jenas - Met him in the old Port in Marsielle in Euro2016. Asked to sit with us and asked us what had been going on. Obviously alot of it was the french police and he said he witnessed similar and was disappointed in the way our press were reporting things back home. He asked for the bill and paid for our drinks whilst there

Kevin Pietersen- Was a very good player and I thought getting rid of him from the England team was a huge mistake. Watching that documentary on him, you can see why. Seems like extremely hard work.

Neil Warnock is one for me. This will probably be an unpopular opinion on here, as I realise he is generally disliked or even loathed by a lot of Leicester fans for some of his comments about us when we were in administration.

 

But I like his honest opinions, no nonsense straight talking, saying it as it is. I don't think he ever had the tactical ability to be a manager at the very top level but I think he was very good with his man management of the teams he's managed.

Stan Collymore. Thought he was an arsehole as a player and then there was the whole Ulrika thing was unforgivable but I find myself agreeing with a lot of his opinions and I think the way he has stood up to and called out the racist abuse he receives is admirable.

My sisters managed to get into his first wedding. they managed to persuade the security that they were with a photographer who had a pass. photographer was Italian and didn’t speak english  so didn’t know what they were saying.

Ricky Gervais. My initial opinion of him in The Office was he was a funny and clever writer. Having watched interviews on Jonathon Ross my opinion changed to thinking he was a bit of an up-himself knob and subsequently having watched The Late Show in the USA and interviews he's done since and some of the things he's said on social media, my opinion now is he's a self opinionated, rather arrogant, unpleasant individual who thinks he is funnier and cleverer than he actually is. A bit like a male version of Lily Allen.

I don't think Corden was involved The Office? But yeah agree, don't like him.

Agree with this. Warnock seems a decent bloke. (when he's not in the opposing dugout).

 

I used to have a completely irrational dislike of Rob Brydon - now quite enjoy watching him.

 

 

 

On the Ricky Gervais topic above - I went to a birthday meal years ago and there was a massive collective sigh of relief that so-and-so's boyfriend couldn't make it. Described to me by the person sitting next to me as a 'needy, insufferable arsehole of the highest order, that you'd want to punch until your arms ached'.

 

I think of that quote every time I see him!

Agree with Rachel riley whole heartily, used to have a thing for her and am an avid Watcher of countdown, could have been the smear campaign she seemed to be on with the antisemitism but she just comes across as such an arrogant bell end on countdown now, just have to put up with her. Not that it matters but since growing to dislike her I've noticed her eyes go in completely different directions, distracting so. 

 

Liam gallagher, always been a big Oasis fan but thought he was a total plank, since he's gone solo just comes across as a chilled out down to earth bloke with a crazy side to him. 

 

Agree with Ricky Gervais, thought he was great and especially liked his Carl Pilkington cartoon that used to be on channel 4 but my is he insufferable.

I'm the total opposite way on Ricky Gervais. I wasn't a huge fan of his early comedy. And even though I enjoyed the office I didn't really like him. Over the last few years, having seen his more recent stand ups, his award presentation, and interviews, I love the guy. Loves life, is opinionated, but I don't always have an issue with that if you put them across well and respectfully. Plus Afterlife was one of the best TV shows I've ever watched.

Gary Lineker, had it drilled into me what a Leicester legend he was growing up. So naturally I liked him on match of the day etc.

 

Heard from numerous people that he’s an absolute tw*t of the highest order. Nasty snob.

His comments that being relegated would improve the miracle of the title win were so misguided it defied belief.

 

I think my opinion changed after that- there is no way, however annoyed you were at Ranieri's sacking, that the thought of relegation being in any way positive is rational.

Used to think that his comedy was quite disgusting at times when he first started on television (Through The Keyhole etc), but now think his acts are pretty funny and well premeditated.

He talked about things like there probably being a gay player on every PL team and wanting to come out and support gay players as well.

Theres no such person. Keith Lemon is a character played by Leigh Francis. He originally did the C4 show Bo Selecta where he mocked various people like Craig David, Michael Jackson, Elton John, George Michael etc (Francis apologised this week for imitating black people back then). He also played a character in the show called Avid Merion.

 

When that ended he created Keith Lemon, which he seems to have been doing for years now. I would say Through the Keyhole was quite late after the creation of Lemon, he'd been on ITV a while before that, doing things like Celebrity Juice.

 

You very rarely see him as Leigh Francis, his true self, which I've always found quite odd. He basically plays out his life as this character Keith Lemon, not as in an actor playing a part, like Steve McFadden playing Phil Mitchell most days in Eastenders, but as an actual person. Whether he's presenting his own show, acting, or being interviewed, its always as Lemon. I'd be interested to see a proper interview with Francis rather than him hiding behind a character.

I concur with the Lineker shouts. Met him twice and he was a bellend on both occasions.

 

The main one for me is Tyson Fury. I couldn't stand the guy and thought he was nothing more than a brawler but now, although I don't agree with all of his views he's one of my favourite sportsmen. Massive fan of his mental health work and he's easily the best heavyweight on the planet
