Can you imagine if we beat Arsenal and Liverpool in the carabao just to get drawn against Man City lol

I’ve never been one who advocates against going for it , however this is the first time I would be happy to throw the cup.

We have a smallish squad and Europa league should be the aim this year(as going for the top 7/8). Fa cup if we get a few nice draws could be evaluated nearer the time but after these draws we should use the kids 100% for this.

Arsenal then Liverpool away..even if we do that, what’s to say we will get a better QF?

We will at least have to face 2 of the top 6 in the QF-final to win it anyway, So probably 4-5 of the top 6 to win it!

Man City and Chelsea also will really go for it with huge squads too.

Its just not worth it. Can’t believe I’m saying it but play the reserves and if we get through by some miracle fair enough but if not, absolutely fine with me.

That’s exactly why I posted this before the Arsenal match. Completely the correct decision to throw the cup away. Probably the first time I’ve ever said that too as I believe you should always go for every cup, but felt it was obvious by odds we would get another top 6 team.

By contrast though look at Newcastle, getting Morecambe, Newport then Brentford. Might get to a semi fairly routinely as Arsenal get Leicester away Liverpool away then Man City just to get a quarter against Man Utd or Spurs 😂.

Huge difference which is why cup runs should take priority depending how the draw goes compared to the likelihood of progressing.

Fairly sure EL teams get moved to Sunday to give them rest. Ever since I can remember it's always been Thursday-Sunday for EL.

This is true, my mate is an Arsenal fan and he said that for much of the season felt like he was watching them on a Sunday. All to do with rest.

Brewster to Sheffield United for £23.5m. Seems like a lot of money and a big gamble. Liverpool have a 15% sell on an a buy back for 3yrs. They are certainly skilled at getting good deals on player sales

Liverpool know how to get money don't they. £23.5m for Brester, £20m for Solanke, £15m for Ibe, £12.5m for Ward... great business.

I’ve only seen Leeds, which is our third game back after the break confirmed for TV.

surely the villa and arsenal game have got to be on some sort of streaming platform? Amazon maybe

From looking at the premier league website, only half the games per week are going to be shown on TV, which is shocking seeing as though spectators can’t get to games

next pep more like the next simeone, good tatically but lets say it how it is.

In fairness, Pep has a talented squad that have been purpose built to play his style of football. Arsenal have a hot mess and he's trying to fire fight.

So putting all the Sept fixtures on was just to take the steam out of the protests knowing any protest movement would have to start from scratch to get any momentum going again. All planned in the Boardrooms of Sky/BT and Amazon.

I wonder if the big clubs are a strong voice in the ear of the PL and rights holders against broadcasting all matches.

Each club gets an equal share (last season £31.8M) from the domestic TV deal, plus “facility fees” depending the number of times broadcast.  Liverpool earned facility fees of £31M.  Outside the big money six, Newcastle and Everton made the most @ about £20M.  The three relegated clubs made only £11.3M each.

Surely if all matches are broadcast, the whole TV pot is distributed equally, Liverpool down to Fulham?  That would not be popular in certain quarters.

Paul Scholes being a man child as per.

They're being dropped for 3 fixtures that mean absolutely nothing.

They'll serve their punishment and be involved next time. This comes 2 weeks after OGS etc was complaining Greenwood needed a rest. Lets remind ourselves that they broke the rules in a global pandemic everyone is fighting.

Scholes annoys me. You never heard a peep out of him when he was playing. Now, he can't stop guffing out his mouth.
