Playing out from the back and the knock on effect on our defensive side of our game is my biggest worry for our club.

BR has tried to implement our team into an eye catching fluid team for the last 18 months. Irrespective of the last half slump I just don't think we have the quality players to try to play like Man City out from the back. We are to slow and too obvious when we knock the ball around the back. Teams started to work us out around January time and pressured our back 4 with a high line hence the mistakes, conceded goals and penalties.

If we had the quality of RP and Gags throughout the back line that could pass with pin point accuracy like Liverpool do to their wingers and strikers then its my opinion that this gives us 2 styles of play instead of one depending which team we play. Im frustrated that having watched so much of city over the last year that BR is still only playing one model.

I fear for next season if we dont sign 3 or 4 quaility players.

There's a time and place for it and I understand the logic to draw teams onto us but in practice it rarely works as teams are wise to it and don't press. We definitely need to go more direct more often or at least vary to keep teams guessing as we'd be less predictable.

Its when it goes to the fullbacks or wingers who are hugging the touchline that gets me . All the other team has to do is press and we end up either losing it, giving a throwing away or passing back to the defence . This seems to happen 100s of times a game .

I didn’t think we played that much from the back much, well passing it around at the back I think is what you mean. Our problem to day was misplaced passes, poor control and misunderstandings.

Typical of a rusty mixed bag team.

Frustrating the amount of goals you see given away by teams attempting this without the players to do it properly.

Fair comment, 100% agree, it's just the constant's and predictabilty of it, that along with it just brings pressure and mistake upons yourself, but I do understand there is a time and place for it, just not all the bleeding time.

This, it's not a problem exclusive to us, it many teams, but it's time for teams to start being the expection and find their own way, not the rule.

I think benkovic can be the player that improves our playing out from the back, same with tagliafico. It didnt work with evans and chilwell because theyre just not those types of players.

We can get good at it, and will be in some matches, not so much in others. A lot of teams will press once they find out how successful we are/can be at it. Other teams will let us and hopefully pay the price.

We can't really play any other way unless we change so many players. We have technical players who can be good on the ball.

It won't always work (it doesn't for those that genuinely do have that as their 'philosophy' - Barcelona, Man City especially - they make mistakes).

We just need to be more polished at it but also be ready to change it up when we come up against a team that presses and does so well. That's where the game management and focus and player's own awareness comes in to play.

It's not as if it's a crime to play this way. But the more you play it, the better you get at it.

Playing out from the back is fine, we just dont have the players or the right coaching staff for it to cause anyone problems. Teams just have to press us a little and it is hard to get it past the half way line because we don't have good movement off the ball to create space and break through teams that are pressing.

and how many more goals are conceded by just booting the ball aimlessly to the opposition?

I think the key is mixing our style up and adapting to our opponents style of play if needed. Cags and Evans are good enough to play 40 yard balls to the wing/Vardy so I dont see how its an issue.

We are at our worst when we're predictable.

Our wingers are a big problem, Harvey is forced out wide but really he should be coming more central to receive the ball and full back overlapping. Almostbrighton looked ok but quite often for him the pass almost makes it but doesn’t quite have the pace or accuracy. Gray was a real threat when he came on but I’ve seen this before!

We have looked solid tho so hopefully with a bit more fitness and practice we’ll have a decent start and get some much needed recruitments.

Catch 22. If we do it and we do it well and beat the press the ability to create chances becomes a hell of a lot easier so we're more likely to score. It's all about our ability and confidence to play through tight areas. We've got the players to do it imo.

Against man city and Liverpool at Xmas we got ourselves in constant problems with it.

We we really need to learn to adapt to who we’re playing against. If a team is sitting back then sure do it. But in a 5v5 situation you are just asking for trouble.

Its been absolutely obvious since last December it wasnt working and BR did NOTHING to change it, sure we got some crappy injuries but failure to qualify for champions league and the abysmal 2nd half of the season is down to him.

BR is a woeful one trick pony who bullshits his way through jobs, never has a plan b (ever), has never beaten a top tier manager and has an appalling record in the transfer market.

Only any good if you've got the goalkeeper, back four and holding midfielder all comfatable on the ball and I'm not sure we have.

No funds, no players, gone by Christmas, hopefully clears out Congerton with him. Wonder if KP have got bored with the whole project.
