BOYCOTT OF PAY PER VIEW GAMES

Recommended Posts

Lots of backlash understandably regarding PPV & they won’t release their viewing figures or revenue amounts... but having spoken to a few older friends who decided to previously stream (Villa Game) & with the delays and buffering/adverts there’s a fair few torn between paying for this as a complete one off.

But this is the problem is it a one off? Will it continue throughout the season? Every season?

A colleague advised he got the Villa Goal come up on his Sky Sports app quicker than the stream... and then had to anticipate it 🥴

Also quite irritating when friends/family overseas get uninterrupted broadcast of all the games free of charge & we are put through this!

It was noticeable that there were fewer streams available for us v Villa than for other games that weekend, and that they were less stable.

I think it's luck of the draw, but as a general rule, if we are playing one of the bigger clubs, there tend to be more and better streams available.  We should be OK tomorrow.

I can't participate as much in match threads in here when I have a laggy stream, because I hate reading about a goal before it happens.

I have considered suggesting a separate "streamers match thread" which would lag a few minutes behind the coverage on radio/TV, but for that to work, everyone's stream would have to be lagging by the same amount  lol

On the other hand I find that although there are more streams for the 'bigger' clubs they seem to buffer a lot more which I assume is because there's more watching them.

I know each to their own and we don’t have to follow the clubs every beck and call but I find it very disappointing that Top (rightly so IMO) says a staunch no against PPV and some of our fans go out there and pay for it anyway.

Im glad the vast majority of football fans see sense and support the clubs decision.

It was Susan Wheelan that voted against it.

I think its all gathering momentum and a majority of people are boycotting before even being advised to, surely people shouldn't need to be advised to but in this day and age people need their arses wiping I suppose.

However i'm surprised more pressure hasn't or isn't being put on Sky/BT/Clubs who voted for this from other media outlets and being reported by other media outlets or more 'outrage' on social media (Again in this day and age people must be outraged all the time, must protest, must petition), unless i've missed it all.

I find the silence deafening that Sky/BT have virtually refused to publically announced viewing figures and the excuses made for not announcing them.

It would be interesting for some rough figures what the revenue difference would be with them charging their high prices with fewer customers or if they lowered their prices and got a higher customer market.

I use streams but if packages were more affordable then I would, along with many more, pay.

I love that the greedy PPV has made tens of thousands of fans criminals and supporters of socialist views :)

Hide under your cushions lads and lassies if you hear a police siren 🚨 near your house when streaming the Matches, just plead stupidity saying you fancy coming in to watch the game and here’s a beer occifer !! :beer:

Unfortunately i managed to find one with no lag, full HD and no buffering.

£20 per month price point for a Premier League Netflix style streaming service. They would make a fortune. It surely will be looking at in the near future. The way Amazon donr it over Christmas last year was brilliant. Same sort of format would be perfect.

Well it wouldn’t be totally unreasonable to think that the owner and chief executive of the club discussed something that we were required to vote on now would it

Makes me chuckle when people think "the owners" do everything at the club themselves lol

Anyway, boycott PPV chaps.

Atm Sky and BT combined costs £70+ a month and that only covers half the games, you think they'd make more money at £20 a month?
