For me this ought to be Hamza's last chance at impressing in a defensive midfield role, that is if it's a 4-3-3. I would rather see Rodgers try Praet there in the absence of Mendy and Ndidi than have someone who, every time I've seen him, cannot keep himself in his position for longer than 5 seconds.

Are Evans and Castagne injured? I'm happy with the team we've put out but I would definitely have both of those guys plonked on the bench just incase.

Castagne looked like he picked up a leg injury (?) at the end of the Arsenal game so probably wasn't risked. Evans probably picked up a slight knock too so didn't travel. 

 

I don't think either will be doubts for Monday though.

I know the intention was to rest them, and we probably had to take them with us just in case of any last minute covid illness or test. But why not just name them on the bench just in case?

I have to say I didn't think I would be as excited European games as I am! Despite not being at the ground and there being no crowd, playing all of these teams that we know very little about and midweek is actually really awesome!

They have an Italian manager and play a fairly old school Serie A type approach. Compact blocks, defensively orientated.

Evans was pictured training in Athens yesterday. Very odd not to be on bench at least
