Tbf I don't think anyone expects the emergency alert system to go off when there isn't a ****ing emergency lol

The last one they did everyone knew about though

I live in west Berkshire and there is a two hectare wildfire outside my town now, so assumed it was a local thing…

Ironically… my phone didn’t get the alert either, just everyone around me 🤣

Just like the UK government to send the alert the day AFTER it was 10 degrees hotter.

Then do the same when Russia sends a nuke over

My nephew recently moved to Wales and got his alert in Welsh. Doesn't speak a word of it.

I think it's a Plaid Cymry plot to kill off the English.

I was part way through switching phone providers, had 2 sims on the go using a spare old phone and my phone. Suddenly both started with the alert. Had no idea what was happening

And, they both received it twice.

Im getting fed up with the thick idiots in the world. About 5 minutes before the alert we had a post in our village facebook group warning some young lads were trying to set fire to some trees, fire and police were aware but busy and couldn't get someone straight over. Some total f*ckwit responded saying that the young lads only had the idea because the security alert gave them the idea and it appeals to their reckless nature to go against authority. The kids are a waste of fresh air, the parents are likely the pits, and idiots like this on facebook dont deserve to speak freely on the Internet.

I feel better now.

Nothing worse than Facebook comments.

An old lady I saw on Wednesday saying the eclipse didn’t happen because she couldn’t see anything in front of the sun. Struggled to resist to reply ‘no Diane, it’s there, just keep looking but closer’ or ‘are you really allowed to vote?’.

It just attracts the dregs of society doesn’t it. I always just think it is important to remember that it does not reflect the wider population. If it did then we’d be in serious trouble!

Worrying how common the weightless jabs are becoming, seeing advertisement for them everywhere.

It isn't understood of the long term implications, and we aren't actually tackling the root cause of the obesity in majority of cases. Just another quick fix to look nicer

I embrace new terms and I'm a walking contradiction given we've had No 10s in football pre my lifetime, but all this chat about "throwing in Player X in the 6" and "moving Player Y into the 8" feels very rugby union to me, I simply cant get on board with it

I think it’s a joke. All these idiots losing weight by literally injecting themselves! Just eat less and move more ffs

Simply put yeah.

Just an example of people expecting instant results rather than putting the work in or 'fixing' any underlying issues whether that be relationship with food or others. On the surface of it, they hugely reduce obesity statistics, but at what cost?

Steroids are frowned upon by people in body building, yet these drugs are the same in principle and you see them being encouraged.

Is there any proof that these kinds of drugs cause long term harm in the way habitual steroid use is shown to do? Honestly don't know that one.

I can see the argument being made here, broadly agree and there has to be safeguards, but I'm not 100% convinced by the idea that "anything that is worth doing and will cause meaningful change needs difficult and stressful work" which is being floated here.

Been really enjoying the European athletics in Birmingham. What a superstar Amy Hunt is, hopefully she'll carry this form into the next Olympics.

I was out on the razzle dazzle in Newcastle last night, and I woke up in trouble with a four alarm hangover this morning.

Just can't hack it like I used to.  lol

The restorative powers of an early morning long walk and a bottle of full fat Irn Bru remain undiminished.

I walked past a guy in a Hi Viz jacket who'd just finished closing off a road and he saw me walking by, looking like utter crapola, eyes like sheeps' rude bits, swigging my Irn Bru, and he piped up in a sing song Geordie accent  "Mate, are you Scottish? You just look sooooo Scottish".

I will NOT be telling any Scottish friends and colleagues about that one  lol

Probably the Irn Bru which clinched it.
