It's not even the same sound as the spelling of "AEK" and it's not as if just saying Athens is a mouthful. We don't call QPR "Qwwepre" or WBA "Waaaba" or something ridiculous. Not only that, there's no real evidence of AEK ever calling themselves IKE other than BT sport... Also the commentator sometimes calls Nacho "Ihenacha" which is just bloody weird.
