I think thats the proper way to pronounce it though, we've just been incorrect all these years by spelling the acronym out.

Like the kids at school who didnt have football kit.  My mate supported leeds so he was always put on the white shirt team with the crap kids  ....he was so happy when Leeds brought their yellow kit out in 1970s

Apparently it's a common thing in Greek to pronounce acronyms like a word. It's how they pronounce it. 

 

You don't call Sevilla Seville do you?
