He was genuinely up there with the best in the world in his prime. So sad it wasn't for long.

He wasn't even the best in Portugal.

A very good player and for 6 months he was probably as good as anyone full back in the prem, but its a very small prime tbf.

Fantastic in his prime and seems a genuinely nice bloke.

That aside, a big wage and sub par player off the bill. Keep em' coming.

When the club is such a mess it overshadows everything else for me. It’s sad he’s leaving like this. At his peak, he was arguably one of the best right backs in the Premier League, absolute class. But that was a long time ago. His legs have gone and he's been poor this season. Really poor. Definitely time to go but still, he gave us some good memories

This in a nutshell is why this place is just a rotten place to be right now.

Yet if the club had posted him off with no fanfare it would have been, “sUch pOor tAste frOm tHe clUb!!!”

As @CloudFox has pointed out, why not do it before now so we can all say goodbye properly. Perhaps not the final home game because that was a dead rubber and no one was there, but even before that so it would have been a meaningful opportunity to say goodbye and not put out a message online with somber music in the background.

This social media campaign to me shows that the attitude at the club will never change. A large part of us being relegated was due to having to play Ricardo and having no replacement. The reason can't afford a replacement is because we invite players like this to stay way too long on ridiculous wages. This club is soft as sh1t.

Good luck to him in whatever he does next because ultimately he's been a good pro, and it's not his fault idiots run our club.

Ricardo was great but he doesn't get above Mahrez. Mahrez was the most technically gifted player I've ever seen at LCFC

Technically gifted, yes. But I'm just talking about the general level quality because obviously Mahrez is better technically than Kante. And Mahrez is a better Leicester City player than either of those because of the relative longevity. But my feeling is that if Ricardo went elsewhere at his peak and maintained that level (so ifs and buts), he'd go down as one of the greatest fullbacks in the modern game.

Ricardo at his peak was the best RB in the world IMO

He was absolute class when he took the ball and brought it inside the opposition couldn’t get near him. For a spell he was touching world class for me.

A beautiful sublime player who will live long in the memory.

I'm quite lenient with the term world class as I'd view that as being somebody who can go into any team in the world and be a very good player, so he was definitely world class along with Mahrez, Kante, Vardy and possibly Kasper (keeper very hard to say as they get exposed more in a worse team and obviously he had his flaws).

Feels like a lifetime ago now.

Yes quite possibly. Mahrez and Kante were both genuine world class players in the title winning season and continued to be world class players after they left us. Ricardo's injuries certainly hampered him but before injuries he was one of the best full backs around.

What a player! Sad to see him go, the last real link to our golden era - good luck for the future and thankyou.

Christ. If he was anywhere near that, he wouldn't have been with us for 8 years.

Will be missed, but it’s the right time.

Very rare that a player spends eight years here.

Come back and visit us, Riccy!

Really, really crap way to go out and a good example of why hanging onto a player for sentimental reasons is virtually never a good idea. I want to be more positive about him and remember the good times but it's very hard at the minute. He's a big part of why we've gone down this season, even though I don't think he's a bad egg.

Shame for him in a way because he was world class before his injury.

However the social media carry on is an absolute piss take. He’s been captain for two seasons and we’ve been relegated twice.

Nod of appreciation, sure. Hashtag thank you Ricardo? **** off.

It's been a pleasure to have him.

If not for injuries he would have been long gone.

A shame it has ended this way, but despite him captaining us to League One, he'll always be very fondly remembered.

His peak was incredible, for a brief period of

time he actually may have been the best RB in the world.

He’s been nowhere near it the last 24

months but that’s on the club and Rudkin for dishing out stupid deals to an injured player. I wish it could have ended differently but it feels like he wishes that even more.

lol Things to tend to read very differently if you ignore a few key words.

But yeah, can't believe Barca, PSG or Juve didn't sign him when he did his ACL. What idiots.

Brought me great joy in fleeting moments. The goal away at Watford is one of my favourite moments in recent years. Probably one of the most talented players we've ever had but we saw it so briefly, alas.

It’s a shame we couldn’t send one of his frequently used treatment tables to Valhalla on a burning pyre in the centre circle after the Millwall game.

Would’ve been the least we could do really.

A terrific Professional in his prime and one of the last dedicated ones we have ! The rest can go in the bin
