Corners should always be mixed up and not necessarily taken by the same player. The opposition can easily work out what is going to happen if one player continually takes them. It's variety that can flummox those you are playing against.

Maybe but when you look at other teams (and ourselves in the past) I don't think they constantly change who takes them but rather change up their plays. It doesn't feel like we have much of a playlist of different tactics. But that could be the simple fact they've barely had a consistent time to practice and drill them. Just recoup from the previous game and then straight into the next isn't conducive I shouldn't think for introducing new plays and ideas.

Ultimately it's not mad to suggest we're terrible at corners (it comes up EVERY match day thread, though granted so does somebody calling for BR to be sacked lol ) and it hasn't changed for a while. Hopefully now we get a full weeks worth of training they can work more on it. If not we'll know.

Either we practice corners in training and Maddison is the best at them or we dont practice them and Maddison takes them because he thinks hes the best...and rodgers could give a sh1t.

I'm of the opinion that any professional player should be able to deliver a decent corner and the same goes for attacking, defending them.

Rodgers & Tielemans have mentions in last interviews, that because of the compressed season so far, they have hardly had time to Practice tactics

or even routines...

....hear this a lot, they have been poor for years, there are no great focus on set pieces, irrespective of timescale!!!

I haven't said we need to "constantly change" but we need others in the team who can and who are confident in taking corners. We shouldn't be reliant on one single player to take corners, take free kicks or, indeed, penalties.

Anybody should be able to take a corner at this level......need someone attacking the ball off the corner.....not so sure we have that player

...exactly...it is not rocket science is it, the fact that none of them have the wherewithal to do something off the cuff is unbelievable!!!

My thoughts exactly! Apart from your centre halves who you would like to think would be the best attackers of the ball everyone else should be capable of whipping in a dangerous corner and getting it near enough on the money every time.

Yeah but this is simple stuff that the players should be able to sort out themselves without needing the coach to talk to them about.

Also I don't buy this as an excuse as they still have plenty of time to discuss stuff, I mean they must spend hours on a coach together at times.

Some of the stuff I see happening feels like it should be sorted out in a sentence.

I agree...they have had enough Time to Talk about it..Bit by the Nature of many Footy forums, we Posters havent...!!

We have Jumped all over the weak Corner & put them in the headlights...!!! Then Nature of the beast Posters will yammer over every Single corner

Good, poor, average or otherwise...and only look & focus on those really poor ones.....

I believe well before the turn of the New year,  put  ( Maddisons ) corners/Set Pieces have improved and often been delivered into that Red-danger-zone.

More to the fact ( including crosses Albrighton & co) , we has a team have been well below average on either creating and or converting those moments.

Its my opinion After reviewing Games in 2021...our deliveries have Not just improved, but not worse than other Teams corners...

Yes we have still have Made poor descisions, either in delivery or recievers take. Not forgetting 2-3 to the  Front post delivery is still a Good tactic our Major Problem seems to get our players in the same wave length...

Now our defending of corners or Set pieces, again I See a slight improvement in the last 3-5 games,

but still well Off the Radar for a decent avgerage..

Our 2 CBs & Gkeeper are not in/on sync...and as much as I rate Kasper,

he IMO will Not break into my best ever  3 Leicester Gks, because he doesn't

Command that 8-9 yard Area around his goal....and has never Made a Partnership with bis 2Cbs...Shilton & Wallington always did...

G.Banks First only After 2 seasons did he  follow Yashin ( which he once mentions himself)

& Made like all Top 5 Gkeepers since early-Middle 1960s,  make that 18yard Area their roost....

That comparison is only One of our defending corners problems....

Our midfield players corner/Set Pieces Set up seems to be Left to luck, with poor ( for top-PL ) positional sense...!!!

Our Defensive Coaching Methods vor der Pieces seem non-exsistent...

Ndidi/Nacho...Fofana/Soyu/Evans...Ricardo/Castagna Dont seem to know or Trust their Set up positions..

Why do our  CBs seem to lose the reading of the Flight of the ball so often.

Our covering midfield have no foresight  for any Opening space or prepared to

Cover loose/2nd  ball...  I would like to find a counter-defensive-argument, But even this hectic season is no excuse for Not following basics, or talking to each

other...

Tielemans corners are definitely better than Maddisons. He reguarly whips the ball in and it hits the center of the goal about 6-8 yards out at head height. Whoever sets up our set pieces is an absolute moron though. Would love us to get a specialist set piece coach in to sort them out, first thing would be, when defending leave two pacey lads on the half way line.

Maddisons "succesful" corners are probably the ones that he floats to the back post and one of the player stretches and heads it out for a goal kick with no pace on the ball.

The problem with having Albrighton taking them; and there is no doubt that in terms on consistency he's the best of a bad bunch, is that he is also incredibly determined and intelligent as a defender to disrupt if we lose the first ball. Having him do that from near the edge of the box /centre of the pitch works; having him on corners means you have Tielemans and Maddison who are not brilliant at tactical fouls/shithousery.
