Parallels with what Brendan has said are pretty obvious but I see some (and admittedly a minority) saying get this man back despite him leading Bristol City to the dizzy heights of 14th despite having two of the best young players in the championship and over 2 years to turn it around.

 

So my question is do these people genuinely think there's some logic here or are they fully conscious of their agenda and irrationality?

with madders defending the performance, it's worse than I feared, Brendan "the hypnotist" Rodgers has got inside the players heads and convinced them the performances are great, we're just unlucky and we just need to keep plugging away.

I'll fess up. Napoli at home I was seething at his team selection, I felt he was treating the competition like an annoyance and so it proved to be. I felt like it was the beginning of the end. After Warsaw away I was so angry, being outclassed by a bunch of farmers because he clearly hadn't done the basic homework. That was almost 18 months ago so I guess I'm in that camp!

18 months is about right. The run in to that final season of finishing 5th was grim. The FA Cup winning season was grim, we were literally awful except for the FA Cup, since the FA Cup Win we've been shit. I'm not sure the fella is wrong.

This season hasn't just happened out of nowhere, it's been a long time coming and has been painfully evident that we've been going backwards, despite individual talent allowing us to do better than our performances deserved.

We were shit for a good three or four months before the FA Cup win. I'll always be grateful for that final win and the memories that came with it but it papered over some cracks massively that people have forgotten about. We have been so poor for so long and because we're little old Leicester who've won beyond our means in recent years were not allowed to talk about it and should be grateful we even stood shoulder to shoulder with the elite. Infuriating.

I’ve been 18 months. The writing had been on the wall for me before that and the game against Wolves was horrid apart from bit of magic from Ricardo and Vards, ridiculous maybe but I’d say it’s been pretty rotten for about that time also.

Not really. We had come off two collapses in the second halves of the season, the performances had already long since started to decline, the style of play was poor and the injury problems were already relentless.

 

October 2021, so 17 months ago, when the Newcastle takeover happened, I said to a mate who supports them (before they appointed Howe) that I hoped they would come for Rodgers as we were in decline and I felt if he was kept in place, we’d be relegated within 3 years. Genuinely that is how obvious it was that things were going the wrong way….
