Robin Gosens (unconfirmed)

He earns a shockingly low wage, absolute mug if he stays at Atalanta.

In other news he looks like Ray Donovan.

They’ve triggered an option which must be at a higher wage (but will still be way below what he can earn elsewhere).

He surely won’t stay there …….

Yeah 15k a week poor bugger must be on bread and water 🤣

To be fair though if he does stay at Atalanta and doesn't move solely for the money then fair play to him.

Abit dumb of Leicester offering 17m when Atalanta rebuffing the offer and wanting 30m last week. Thought he was brilliant yesterday carried the team like Grealish does at Villa

It doesn't looks like we have the budget to stretch to that, especially with us needing to still sign a RW and a centre-back.

I really like Gosens' personality as well - he praised Atalanta and their supporters after the game. Doesn't sounds like the type of player who craves the limelight or will simply move for the money, seems quite humble and loyal - in other words the type of qualities we look for!

...anyway you look at it, the cost of his services excluding wages equates to £30m!!!

Wether it is add ons plus £16m, it still comes to £30m.

Excluding wages?

No, it definitely doesn’t.

There is quite often a discrepancy between reported fees paid and actual fees paid/agreed.

Tieleman’s was reported £40m but was £32m

Perez was reported £30m but was £16m.

Plenty of the sources known to be close to Leicester at the time reported the transfer as £16m and that the £30m figure was being inflated at the Newcastle end to save face.

Probably have my head in the clouds. But with a family type of environment, centre of excellence training facilties, a club with increasing financial clout, current international stars littered here and there that he'd know of and lastly we have likely football formations that would suit him to a tee.

Just saying.....

All of that is probably true that we would suit him, the issues remain though that Atalanta want twice as much as we have currently offered for him, we lack Champions League football which is supposedly an important factor for him, and some of the big boys are now becoming interested in him

Agreed. It's the CL and EL that are pivotal to his decision, but here's to hoping he just wants a genuine club that's on the up and who knows he'd get a good contract compared to his current one.

That's true, we said we got £80million for Maguire but it was really 50 and a signed photo of Wayne Rooney.

I've been through this loads but the fee was £30 million. Not sure why our fans can't accept we overpaid for a player. John Percy the messiah himself confirmed it.

There's no reliable source that has reported Perez as £16 million. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/07/03/leicester-close-56m-pair-youri-tielemans-ayoze-perez-stand-firm/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw

John Percy says we paid his release clause of around £30 million so that's what happened.

Was it 30m upfront, or in total. Not trying to welch out of the reality, just curious. We overpaid based on whats been delivered of that, there is little doubt, but a single figure rarely tells the whole story. For example, if we sold Perez this window, would we have paid the full 30m?

I have no idea to be honest, from what was reported we met his release clause which was around £30 million so don't see why add-ons would be involved. I doubt we paid £30 million upfront, it would be paid over a number of years but that's just payment terms. If we met a release clause I can't see how we'd not end up paying the full fee in the end regardless of when we sell him. :dunno:
